About Me

We are a mother and daughter team, who will be working together to provide quality care and education for your children. Offering an array of play-based learning experiences based on your child’s individual needs and/or interest.  

Our aims are to provide opportunities for your children to develop their independence capabilities to become confident and resilient lifelong learners. We strive to equip your pride and joy with the essential skills that will ensure they excel to their fullest potential as they access further education services throughout their childhood and beyond.  

Firwood Childminders is based on Shayfield Avenue, Chadderton, occupying a secure back garden and a driveway suitable for drop off and collections, we present a designated playroom, separate dining area, downstairs toilet and a spare bedroom offering additional space for play. 

We are registered with Oldham council and are able to offer government-funded places.  

We are both DBS checked and have a current and valid Paediatric First Aid qualification. 

A little information about who we are:  

Sandra - registered childminder

Has been a registered childminder for 10 years and an owner of a successful nursery for the past 8 years. Being a mum of four, her youngest being 8 years old and a grandmother to two beautiful granddaughters, Sandra has a wealth of experience.  In addition, Sandra has gained a Foundation Degree in Early Years Development and more recently obtained a level 3 certificate in The Role of the SENCO enabling her to support those children with additional needs with effective underpinning knowledge.  

 

Shelley - registered childminder

Is the 2nd eldest of Sandra’s children with a 3 year old of her own. Shelley completed her level 3 and has 8 years childcare experience, working her way up from an apprentice to the deputy manager of a large nursery. Shelley has a vast experience of caring for children between the ages of 4 months and 11 years, having the ability to think on her feet to differentiate activities to enable all to take part. Shelley has a deep understanding of what is anticipated as a parent, relating to wishes, concerns and expectations.
