About Us

Townsend Montessori Nursery Maidstone is a nurturing setting, developing capable learners and communicators. We are passionate about Montessori inspired philosophy. Montessori nursery is not just about learning, it is about sparking curiosity, encouraging exploration, and helping children develop their natural interests, learn through hands-on experiences, and acquire real-world skills.

We encourage the children to explore and learn by encouraging the children to do things by themselves and to make their own choices; helping them to become confident and inquisitive learners. The nursery has been carefully designed with children in mind, complete with five engaging and spacious rooms, enabling free flow throughout.

The baby and toddlers’ room has a cosy space with a dedicated garden accessible from the room. For children aged just over one, there is a sensory area, quiet book corner and construction area. There is also a large space to explore and learn with messy play, as well as arts and craft activities. The children have the opportunity to free flow into their own garden throughout the day, enabling them to continue their learning in a new environment.

The Pre-School consists of two large rooms full of resources and age-appropriate activities; with our Montessori Teacher and Qualified teacher working between both rooms, either on a one-to-one basis or in small groups.

Outside, we have paid thoughtful attention to creating an environment that enables the children to develop relationships with the world around them. These areas include a climbing frame, sand and water play, and a Maths hut for Pre-school. All of the children have access to the large garden and forest class during the day, where the children can learn about nature and use the mud kitchen.

The nursery offers exceptional care, enriched by unique learning opportunities for your child. One such experience is child-friendly cooking classes, inspired by the Montessori approach, fostering meaningful connections between children and the world around them. These classes help to equip children with valuable skills and deeper knowledge of the cooking process.
