About Me

Hello, I’m a friendly, reliable and caring Portuguese nanny with a genuine love for working with children. I take great joy in helping them learn through play, indoors and outdoors, explore their interests and grow in confidence and independence.
I’m patient, organised and hardworking, and I always bring warmth, positivity and a sense of fun to my day. I enjoy planning creative activities indoors and outdoors, following children’s interests and encouraging children to discover new things while developing important life skills.
I always make sure to provide clear, friendly feedback to parents throughout the day.
I believe every child is unique and deserves to feel valued, supported and happy in their environment.

On certain occasions, I may bring my 15-month-old granddaughter when her parents are working shifts. Her presence can further enrich the warm, family-like environment I aim to provide.
When families are comfortable with this arrangement, it can offer many benefits, including:
A built-in playmate who encourages healthy social interaction and shared play.
Positive role modeling, helping children learn kindness, patience, and cooperation.
Natural social development, encouraging empathy, sharing, and communication.
Of course, I always discuss and respect each family’s preferences. When welcomed, this arrangement often brings extra happiness and value to everyone’s day.

My Experience

I have over 30 years of childcare experience in London, including 15 years as a sole charge nanny, sometimes in a nanny share while raising my own children (now adults). I’ve cared for children from newborn to 12 years old, providing structured routines, engaging activities, daily outings and healthy meals. I also supported families with toilet training, sleep routines, fussy eating, and helped with school runs, homework and general children’s organisation.
In 2005, as my children grew older, I moved into early years education, gaining my NVQ Level 2 in Childcare. I worked in a pre-school from 2006 to 2022, progressing to Deputy and Assistant SENCo, and leading the two-year-old room. My role involved planning and assessing children’s development, supporting those with special educational needs, liaising with professionals, and providing personalised feedback to parents.
I was made redundant in July 2022.
I then became a Pre-School Leader in a private nursery, where I led planning, outings, and developmental assessments.
In 2023, I returned to nannying — caring for three young children, mainly in sole charge of a 16 month-old, managing school runs, homework, cooking and keeping the children’s spaces tidy. This lovely role came to a natural end when the youngest started full-time nursery.

As a Preschool Coordinator I worked as Sao’s line manager for 17 years. Initially she joined us as a volunteer in a student work placement and her love of children and enthusiasm for working with them was evident from the start. We quickly employed her as part of our permanent staff and at the point when the preschool closed down she had progressed to the role of Deputy Coordinator with additional responsibility as Assistant Special Educational Needs Coordinator, and also ran the two year old part of the provision. In these roles she demonstrated her organisational ability, time management skills and communication skills. Her attendance and punctuality are excellent

Sao is enthusiastic, conscientious and reliable. She has a sound understanding of learning through play and provides a variety of imaginative, creative, exciting activities to extend the development and learning of the children in her care. She is calm and consistent and is able to ensure that daily routines are fun. She always recognises children as individuals and responds positively to their needs. Her experience as an Assistant SENCO meant that she took a lead role in identifying children’s additional needs and worked closely with their parents and other professionals to ensure that they were met. She has a wealth of knowledge in the area of SEND.

Sao is a warm, open person and it was a pleasure to work with her. Any family employing her as a nanny would benefit from her extensive knowledge and understanding of children and their developmental needs and I would have no hesitation in recommending her for any job which involved caring for and educating children.

Thank you very much. I really appreciate it.
I had the best coordinator to guide me through the years. 😊

It’s hard to put into words just how lucky we feel to have had Sao as part of our family for the past three years. She has been the most incredible nanny to our three children – B (12), G (7), and B (3) – and saying goodbye as our youngest starts school feels truly bittersweet.

From day one, Sao has been everything we could have hoped for and more: reliable, loyal, and endlessly warm. She has a natural instinct with children and an infectious energy that meant every day was filled with fun, adventure, and creativity. Whether it was organising engaging activities, taking them out for fresh-air-filled days, or just making everyday routines feel joyful, Sao gave our children the kind of care every parent dreams of.

Sao stepped into every part of our family life with openness – including times when she took on proxy parenting with complete confidence and competence. We trusted her implicitly. She’s been a consistent, loving presence in our children’s lives, and they absolutely adore her.

Quite honestly, we don’t know what we’re going to do without her. The only reason she’s leaving is because our youngest, is now starting school, and we no longer need full-time care. Otherwise, we would never be letting her go.

Any family would be incredibly fortunate to welcome Sao into their lives. She is, without a doubt, one of a kind, and we recommend her wholeheartedly.
