About Me

Hi, I'm Laura I've had over 16 years experience working with children, ranging from regular babysitting to voluntary work in a Primary School.

I am an animal lover, I was brought up around a farm and have owned various pets over the years from Cats and Dogs, Rabbits, Hamsters and even a tortoise. Having spent most of my childhood around a farm I love spending time outdoors either in nature or in my garden growing various flowers and vegetables.

I enjoy doing Arts and Crafts in my spare time and like to keep myself busy with different projects. I am an avid reader with an ever growing home library made up of various genres with my favourite being Agatha Christie novels.

My Experience

I've babysat from the age of 13 until 26 for children aged between 1-11, responsible for supervising meal times, bath time, bedtime routines as well as occasional homework help.

I volunteered within a Primary school as a classroom assistant for over 4 years, working with Key Stage One children. Working with children on a one to one basis for phonics work, reading and general support with classwork during lessons. Also lead small group (up to 4 children) art activities.

During my time volunteering in the Primary School environment, assisted in the running of two after school sports clubs. This involved preparing training plans, teaching skills, coaching, leading practices and umpiring at inter school tournaments.

Additionally, due to my Mother passing away I raised my younger sister from the age of 5. Acting as a full time guardian, responsible for before school routine, school transport, after school pick up, meal planning and preparation, homework and bed time routine as well as planning weekend activities. I was responsible for maintaining household food budget and all household chores.
