My Summary
About Me
My name is Kelly Steele and I'm 49 years old. I have been married to my husband for 27 years and we live in Aldershot with our two children, a daughter aged 25 and a son aged 23.
I have always worked in the caring profession and feel that I provide a warm, loving, friendly environment in which the child can learn and grow as an individual.
In my spare time I love nothing more than spending quality time with my family which includes our lovely 11 year old springer spaniel.
My Experience
Straight from leaving school i went to Guildford College for two years where i studied the city and Guilds course"Family and Community care" which is the equivalent to the NNEB Qualification. During this time i spent some time on a work placement at The Ridgeway School in Farnham, Surrey which caters for Handicapped children which i found to be extremely rewarding time in my life.
Following College i went to work in Residential home for the elderly in Aldershot which i continued to do for 4 years. I looked after some fantastic people while i was there who had many fascinating stories. During this time i learned a lot about my self.
I always felt that my true vocation in life was to work with Children so it was no surprise that my next job was a nanny for a local family looking after their two young sons. I enjoyed this job immensly and continued to do this even following the birth of our daughter as the family didn't want to see me go and the arrangement worked perfectly for me so that i could work and bring up my own child. I continued to do this up until my son was born 8 weeks premature, forcing me to give up the job i loved so that i could dedicate my time to looking after our two children.
I soon felt that i wanted to work again and decided that Childminding would be the perfect job for me so that i could earn money whilst at the same time bringing up our two children which i have now done for over 15 years.
I am OFSTED registered and recently had my OFSTED inspection and was graded as 'good'.
I am paediatric first aid trained, have passed the CACHE level 3 Diploma in Home-based Childcare along with Health and Safety, food hygiene and safeguarding children qualifications.
I am a registered EYE provider which allows me to provide 30 hours per week funded by the government for 9 months to three and four year olds.
