My Summary

My Experience

I began working with children before I left school with several regular babysitting posts. Then whilst studying childcare I took a position with the local county council as a Peripatetic Learning and Care Support worker for a 3 year old with Autism Spectrum Disorder. As this child was non-verbal, my role was mainly focused on helping the child communicate and interact with the world around them.

I went on to work in various childcare settings including playgroups, crèches, nurseries, and as a Nanny in private family homes.

I took a career side-step into the Health and Wellness industry for several years, which lead me to educational training posts working with teenagers and adults. I enjoyed many years as an Educational Training Manager for a global brand, heading up a team of educators who supported over 500 further education institutes in UK and Ireland. The years with this company also gave me lots of experience of teaching in the UK and internationally, as well as offering educational training sessions as part of HM Prisons rehabilitation programme.

After starting a family, I decided I wanted to merge my two previous careers in childcare and education. This lead me to working in primary schools and currently to a position as a Primary School Teaching Assistant. As part of the class teaching team, my specialised focus is working 1-1 and in small groups with children who have SEN. This involves supporting them socially, emotionally and academically.

During weekends, evenings and school holidays I am able to offer an ah-hoc childcare and babysitting service for local families.
