About Me

I am passionate about helping children understand how they learn, develop their skills and grow in confidence.

I am a specialist dyslexia assessor and tutor, as well as a dyslexic thinker myself. I am also a parent of three grown-up sons, two of whom are dyslexic, so I understand dyslexia from both a professional and a personal perspective.

I believe that every child has their own pattern of strengths and challenges. My approach is calm, encouraging and child-centred, helping children recognise their strengths while giving them practical strategies and support for the areas they find more difficult.

My Experience

I have over 30 years' experience working with children and families, including roles as a class teacher, SEN teacher, Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo), Early Years Lead and Family Support Worker.

I now specialise in supporting children with dyslexia and other literacy difficulties through Dyslexia Thrive, providing both one-to-one specialist tuition and diagnostic dyslexia assessments.

My tuition is individually planned, structured and multisensory. I aim to make sessions positive and achievable, while helping children become more independent learners and develop confidence in their own abilities.

• 2022 Postgraduate Certificate in Specific Learning Difficulties
• 2023-26 AMBDA
• 2023-26 PATOSS Specific Learning Difficulties Assessment Practising Certificate (APC)

My Availability

I offer specialist one-to-one tuition for children aged 4–11 and diagnostic dyslexia assessments for children from age 8.

Assessments are carefully planned around the individual child and include time to talk with parents and school, helping me build a rounded picture of the child's strengths and areas of difficulty.

Above all, I want children to feel comfortable working with me. Whether I am tutoring or assessing, I take time to build a relationship with each child so that they feel listened to, supported and able to do their best.
