About Me

Hey there! I'm an experienced and enthusiastic tutor with a passion for learning and creativity. With degrees from top universities like my MSc in geography from LSE and the University of Amsterdam as well as my Bachelor's in geography and history from UCLA, I bring a strong educational background to the table. Currently, I am part-time IGCSE geography teacher at a private school in Canary Wharf. Additionally, I privately tutor the following,
Subjects from primary to A-level: history, English, geography, sociology, and anthropology
Exams: TEFL, IELTS, IGCSE, SAT, 7+, 8+, 11+, and 13+.

When I'm not helping students excel, you'll find me lost in a good book, sketching artistic creations, dabbling with paints, exploring new destinations, or spending quality time volunteering at my church and hiking with my furry friends.

Let's embark on a fun learning journey together, where we explore subjects, spark curiosity, and grow as learners!

My Experience

I'm an experienced tutor and mentor with a wealth of knowledge gained over seven years of guiding students in both traditional classroom and remote learning environments. I've had the privilege of tutoring at esteemed institutions like Saddleback College, Irvine Valley College, and the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA).

Beyond the classroom, my journey has taken me to Valdo Academics and Upgrade Academy, where I've honed my skills in mentoring students who aspire to study in EU, UK, and US schools, giving me exposure to a diverse range of international students. Recently, I shared my expertise as an ESL teacher at Escape Campus, crafting engaging English language lessons from A1 (Beginner) to C2 (Advanced) levels.

My tutoring voyage spans a wide spectrum, from primary school learners to university students and even adult non-traditional learners. I've covered an array of subjects such as English Literature, English as a Second Language, World literature, European literature, World history, US history, general social studies, geography, Earth and environmental Sciences (including geology, meteorology, oceanography, and pedology), anthropology, fine art, and sociology.

The diverse mix of ages and academic stages has taught me the art of tailoring sessions to cater to individual learning styles, personalities, and subject-specific needs. Navigating different institutions has equipped me to artfully blend structured curricula with creative teaching methods, ensuring students connect deeply with the material.

My tutoring journey isn't confined to the classroom – I've extended my reach to the Shea Center, a therapy hub for individuals with physical and mental disabilities, and I currently volunteer at St. Margaret’s Lothbury for Iranian refugees. These experiences have polished my communication skills, enabling me to gauge student abilities accurately and adapt teaching techniques accordingly.

Educating has molded me into a more creative, dedicated, patient, and organized individual. Witnessing students attain their unique goals remains an incredibly fulfilling and gratifying experience, motivating me to continuously refine my craft and connect with learners on a deeper level.

My Qualifications

A lifelong learner and academic enthusiast, my educational journey has been nothing short of remarkable. I hold a Master's degree in Human Geography and Urban Studies from the prestigious London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), with an expected graduation in October 2023.

Prior to that, I earned an MSc in Human Geography with a focus on Urban Studies from the University of Amsterdam in October 2024, adding to my multidisciplinary expertise. ?? My academic foundation was laid at the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA), where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Geography and a Minor in History in June 2021, boasting an impressive GPA of 3.9.

My educational pursuits have propelled me into diverse research experiences, including projects in environmental policy and political actors in Taranto, Italy, and street art's impact on urban change in Rotterdam. These projects have nurtured my analytical thinking and honed my skills in policy mapping, policy analysis, GIS, and qualitative research methodologies.

My dedication to excellence has garnered accolades such as UCLA College Honors, Taiwan Studies Undergraduate Summer Research Fellowship, UCEAP Promise Award, and inclusion in the Dean's List. These honors validate my commitment to academic excellence and my thirst for knowledge.

As a tutor and mentor, I infuse my educational achievements into every interaction, enriching the learning experience for my students. I'm excited to bring my academic prowess to our tutoring sessions, fostering growth, curiosity, and a passion for education.

My Availability

Availability is my middle name! ? With an incredibly flexible schedule, I'm here to cater to your learning needs whenever suits you best. Whether it's a bright and early morning session, a midday study break, or even a late-night cram session, I'm all ears (and expertise) to make our tutoring sessions work seamlessly with your timetable. Let's collaborate to find that perfect slot that syncs with your rhythm and helps you reach your goals.

Alexandria has been a phenomenal tutor for my three kids. She has helped my youngest prepare for the 11+ exams and my other two with GCSEs and maths. She is so good with them and they're actually excited to do homework when she's helping. I'd recommend her to any parent.
