About Me
Hi, I’m Faye! I’m an outgoing, understanding and empathetic person with a passion for working with children especially SEN. I have experience of working in a primary and nursery setting as well as some behaviour therapy work targeted to non verbal children with ASD.
I have completed a BSc in Psychology which has give me a solid foundation for understanding the behaviour of children. I understand the complexities of children and how every child is different with their own set of needs. I believe in the importance of building a relationship with children, having fun, actively listening and establishing the specific interests of the child to help motivate them in order to build their confidence and resilience.
I would love to work with families and build meaningful relationships. I am available to help with any service you may require such as baby sitting or helping around the house. Feel free to contact me for more information!
My Experience
I have experience working in both in a nursery and primary school setting. My previous employment was as an SEN classroom assistant. During my role, I was contracted to support two children with ASD in primary six but expanded my support to several children in the class. This was a challenging role which I thoroughly enjoyed. The experience I gained involved:
Understanding the individual needs of a children with ASD
Creating support plans tailored to the individual needs of the child
Establishing the specific interests of the child and integrating this into their learning to promote motivation for academic learning
Encouraging and rewarding positive behaviour
Encouraging social play
Supporting the child during social conflict
Encouraging independence
Working with the teacher and reporting the child’s progress
Raising safeguarding issues when necessary
I have experience working as a behaviour therapist targeted to children with ASD. Where I was trained through Act to Connect my responsibilities included:
Building a trusting relationship with both the child and their families
Encouraging positive behaviour by implementing support programmes
Taking notes and collecting data to showcase clients progress
Gaining knowledge on a-typical child development
Helping children with gross motor skills and oral imitation
Using positive reinforcement as a motivator for speech development
Working alongside qualified behaviour therapists and participating in training each week
Furthermore, I have experience working with babies and toddlers in a nursery setting. This job role helped me to gain experience of:
