My Experience

In my role as a Level 3 qualified childcare practitioner, I have been responsible for a wide range of daily activities that support children’s development and ensure their well-being. My typical day involved welcoming children and parents each morning, settling children into the setting, and following a structured routine that balanced learning, play, and rest.

I planned and delivered age-appropriate activities to promote development in all areas of the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage), including sensory play, arts and crafts, story time, outdoor exploration, and group games. I regularly observed and tracked children’s progress, identifying areas where extra support was needed and adapting plans to meet individual needs.

Daily care routines such as nappy changing, toilet training, preparing healthy snacks and meals, and supporting good hygiene practices were a key part of my role. I also supported emotional development by helping children manage their feelings, resolve conflicts, and build friendships.

I’ve dealt with a variety of real-life situations, including comforting upset children during separation anxiety, responding calmly to minor accidents or illnesses, managing challenging behaviour with positive strategies, and communicating closely with parents to provide updates and collaborate on developmental goals. I also worked with children with additional needs, adapting activities and routines to ensure inclusion and equal opportunities for every child.

Teamwork and communication were essential parts of my role, whether working alongside colleagues, attending staff meetings, or supporting children during transitions between rooms or settings.
