Hi everyone! I have been a primary school teacher for the past ten years and I also have two children of my own (ages 2 & 3) so I bring a wealth of expertise to the table. My childminding journey started in April 2025 and I can honestly say I love my job!
A typical day with me will involve a local outing in the morning (e.g. playgroup, library, park, nature walks, farm), lunch/nap time; and then the afternoon will be spent playing and engaging in a range of activities back at my home/in my garden. I live in Chapeltown on a quiet estate just 6 minutes walk from Chapeltown Park. I am a friendly, enthusiastic individual who loves to plan activities based on a child's interests. If you were a fly on the wall, some of the activities you could expect to see your child and I engaging in are: playing musical instruments and singing; playing jigsaws and puzzles, using play doh, using a range of building blocks and engaging in make believe games. I love to play games as much as possible and I know just how much this makes learning more memorable!
My home is a spacious detached house and I have a huge range of different toys and activities for ages 0-5. I can send over lots of pictures of my home on request. I have a downstairs toilet with a toilet potty so let me know when your child is starting the potty training journey and I'll be here to help. I have a large secure garden with a toddler friendly climbing frame/slide/swing and a variety of outdoor toys such as a car, ride along toys, scooters and bikes. I love being outside and exploring so wellies are a must!
You can also expect us to be reading lots of books throughout the day. Being from a teacher background, I know just how much reading improves school readiness and knowledge about the world. When age appropriate, I will also begin to introduce set 1 phonics sounds. I will keep you updated on what sound we are learning so you can practice at home too!
Bring a mother myself, I know how hard it can be leaving your children with someone you don't know very well and I want you to feel as comfortable as possible. I believe that my job is to make the settling in journey as smooth as possible for the parents as well as the child. I will update you throughout the day with pictures, what they have eaten and slept etc. All the reassurance any parent could want!
My Experience
I have been teaching in several different Primary Schools for the past ten years. This has included teaching in Australia and New Zealand. I have strong subject knowledge of the EYFS and National Curriculum; as well as extensive experience in teaching children with a variety of SEND/EAL needs. I believe that my teaching experience has given me a breadth of skills that I now wish to take with me on my new childminding journey!
I of course have my own two children too so I have newborn experience, weaning, potty training, nap time transitions etc.
My Qualifications
University qualifications:
- Qualified teacher status: Postgraduate certificate in education (PGCE)
- Psychology Bsc degree with a specialism in child development: First Class Honours degree.

My Availability
My hours are 7.30-5.30. Children will need to attend for a minimum of 8 hours a day.
I am currently fully booked but I have a funded childcare placement available from May 2026. This is for three full days: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (term time).

My Fees
- Childminding from £8.00 per hour
I am pleased to offer the government funded hours. Please note there will be a consumable charge of £10 a day applied to these hours (reduced to £8 using your tax free childcare account).
This will cover for things like healthy meals and snacks, entry fees for all of our exciting outings, resources, treats etc. Please get in touch to discuss further or if you have any questions - I would love to help!

We feel incredibly lucky to have found such a wonderful childminder. From the very beginning, Sarah has been warm and welcoming, immediately putting our minds at ease as working parents. Knowing that our child is in such loving, safe, and capable hands each day has been a tremendous comfort, especially when returning to work from maternity leave.
Sarah is not only kind and caring, but also truly supportive of each child’s individual needs. Her nurturing personality shines through in everything she does and it’s clear she has a genuine passion for helping children grow and flourish. The childminding industry is very lucky to have Sarah.
The learning environment Sarah provides is rich, engaging and thoughtfully planned. Our little boy has enjoyed a wide variety of activities and outings, from nature walks to local adventures, all of which have been both fun and educational. These experiences have helped build confidence, curiosity and a love for learning.
Most importantly, our son has been incredibly happy in her care and has absolutely thrived. The progress we’ve seen—socially, emotionally, and developmentally—has been amazing. We are forever grateful for Sarah playing such an important role in our little boy’s life during the time he has been in her care.
We would wholeheartedly recommend ‘Sarah’s Little Learners’ to anyone looking for childcare. Sarah is second to none and has been an invaluable part of our child’s early years. We couldn’t have asked for better. Thank you Sarah!
