Kenneth
Family Support Nanny / Part-Time Nanny (Split Shift And Optional Live In)
About Me
I’m a single dad based in Canterbury, Kent, with two great kids: Finnley (11) and Savannah (8).
Finnley has ADHD, so prior hands-on experience supporting children with ADHD is essential. He does best with clear routines, calm guidance, and adults who are steady, warm, and consistent. Savannah is capable, independent, and enjoys being involved and helpful.
I work from home, so I’m often physically around, though frequently in meetings. The role is a true partnership — working together to keep mornings and evenings calm, organised, and positive, while I stay closely involved with the kids.
Our home is warm, structured, and nurturing. We care a lot about helping the children grow into capable, confident people by teaching independence in everyday things — school prep, tidying, helping with meals, and following routines — with encouragement rather than pressure.
We’re also a health-conscious household. We cook simply and avoid processed foods as much as possible — lots of fruit, vegetables, rice, and home-cooked meals — and we aim to model healthy habits in a relaxed, sustainable way.
We live in a comfortable home with strong Wi-Fi. Canterbury is a beautiful, lively city and under one hour by train from London, making this a great option for candidates who want a calm home base with easy access to the city.
My Requirements
Schedule (Term Time)
Evenings (core):
• Sunday, Monday, Tuesday
• 4:00pm – 9:30pm
Mornings (strongly preferred):
• Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
• 5:00–5:30am start through school departure (~8:30am)
This is a part-time split-shift role during term time.
For candidates based further away (including London), a part-time or full-time live-in option can be discussed for the right person.
What the Role Is Really About
This role is about making mornings and evenings work well...calm starts, smooth transitions, and evenings that feel organised rather than rushed.
You’ll be supporting:
- Evening routines (dinner, homework, prep, bedtime)
- Early-morning routines (school prep and transitions)
- A simple points-based system that encourages cooperation and responsibility
- Organisation around uniforms and school prep
- Light children’s laundry and kitchen support
We have a weekly cleaner, so there’s no heavy housework.
Just as important, you’ll be helping the children learn to do things for themselves, with encouragement and guidance rather than stepping in to do everything for them.
Working Style & Flexibility
I work from home, so this is a collaborative role. Sometimes we’ll work side-by-side; other times you’ll confidently hold routines while I’m in meetings.
About once per quarter, I travel for work. During those weeks, the role may expand slightly (for example, an extra evening or weekend day). During school breaks and summer, there may also be optional opportunities to travel together as a family if that’s something you’d enjoy.
Ideal Candidate
- Proven experience supporting children with ADHD (essential)
- Experience with school-age children
- Calm, patient, and emotionally steady
- Comfortable providing structure with warmth and empathy
- Organised, reliable, and confident with routines
- Brings a reassuring, positive presence children naturally respond to
This role suits someone who enjoys being an important, trusted part of a family’s rhythm... not just “helping out,” but genuinely making a difference.
