About Me
Welcome to Little Learners
Little Learners is run by myself and my wife, Sarah, who is also an Ofsted-registered childminder. Sarah holds a BA (Hons) in Early Years and brings her knowledge, experience and passion for early childhood development into everything we do.
Sarah originally started Little Learners by herself, and I joined her just over two years ago as her assistant. Since then, we have worked together to create a safe, caring, welcoming and stimulating environment where every child is encouraged to learn, develop and thrive.
Our Approach to Learning
At Little Learners, we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory framework, including the requirements introduced from November 2025 and updated on 1st September 2026.
The framework supports children’s learning and development and helps prepare them for the next stage of their journey, including starting school. We also believe that parents and carers play an essential part in this process. School readiness isn’t just about the child; it is about working together to help families feel informed, confident and prepared for the transition ahead.
By working closely with parents and carers, we identify individual areas of learning and development and take a step-by-step approach tailored to each child. Our aim is to help every child progress at their own pace and be as confident, independent and prepared as possible for their next stage.
A Little About Our Family
Sarah and I have three children, aged 28, 21 and 20. We also have a Westie dog and two cats, so family life has always been very important to us.
My personal interests include cars, music, football, DIY, family time, holidays and continuing to learn how I can improve what I do and help others.
I also enjoy spending time with my dad, who is 92 years old. He is my hero, and I have learnt so much from his knowledge, life experiences and continued encouragement to work hard, believe in myself and make the most of life.
Our Family Values
As a family man, I have always believed it is important to guide children and help them understand the values that will support them throughout their lives.
We encourage our Little Learners to be polite, kind, knowledgeable and helpful; to respect themselves, other people and the world around them; to enjoy life, believe in their abilities and have the confidence to follow their dreams.
Children need positive role models, encouragement, boundaries and opportunities to learn from their experiences. By gently guiding and supporting them, we can help them develop the confidence, independence, kindness and resilience they need to become the very best version of themselves.
At Little Learners, we don’t just prepare children for school — we help prepare them for life.
My Experience
Little Learners a bit about us.
I have worked within the Early Years sector for over two years, alongside my wife, Sarah, who is an Ofsted-registered childminder and holds a BA (Hons) in Early Years.
Our setting is registered to care for children from birth, and we offer eligible families access to government-funded Early Years childcare, including funded hours for children from 9 months through to school age, subject to the relevant eligibility criteria.
My Early Years Journey
I have worked alongside Sarah for just over two years as her assistant. However, my interest in Early Years began much earlier. From 2013 to 2015, I served as Chairman of a preschool, where I developed a genuine passion for children’s early learning, development and wellbeing.
I firmly believe that a nurturing, home-from-home environment can give children the security they need to develop confidence, independence and positive relationships outside their immediate family.
Every child who joins Little Learners becomes an important part of our Little Learners family.
Having a positive male role model within our setting also provides another dynamic for the children, giving them opportunities to build secure relationships with different adults and experience a variety of approaches to play, learning and communication.
Learning Through Play & Experience
We work closely with children, parents and carers to ensure that each child’s time with us is happy, stimulating and, above all, safe.
Children learn in many different ways. We combine adult-led activities with child-led play, imagination, exploration and real-life experiences, allowing children to develop their knowledge and skills while following their individual interests.
Our aim is to help children develop confidence, independence, communication skills and a genuine enthusiasm for learning, providing strong foundations for their eventual transition to school.
We also recognise that every child is unique. Some children may need additional time, encouragement or a different approach to learning. We support children at their own pace, celebrating individual progress and achievements rather than expecting every child to develop in exactly the same way.
Knowledge, Training & Safeguarding
Between Sarah and myself, we have completed numerous professional training courses, including Paediatric First Aid and Safeguarding.
Ongoing training helps us continually develop our understanding of children’s learning, development, welfare and safety. Protecting and caring for children is at the heart of everything we do.
Learning Beyond the Setting
We believe some of the best learning happens through real experiences.
Our Little Learners enjoy a wide variety of activities and outings, which may include woodland walks, parks, nature reserves, strawberry picking, visits to Birdworld, garden centres, libraries and local places within our community.
Children can experience water play, cooking, exploring nature, pond dipping, running, climbing, creative activities, physical challenges and opportunities to interact and socialise with other children.
These experiences encourage curiosity, communication, physical development, problem-solving and an understanding of the world around them.
Within the setting, we explore a broad range of age-appropriate learning opportunities, including numbers, letters and sounds, shapes, colours, days of the week, seasons, manners, kindness, sharing, drawing, painting, early writing, arts and crafts, music, singing and imaginative play.
Most importantly, we make learning fun.
Building Confidence & Independence
Giving children opportunities to explore, make choices and try things for themselves is an important part of growing up.
Through encouragement and appropriate challenges, children can learn to build relationships, solve problems, develop resilience and gain the confidence to try something new without being afraid of making mistakes.
We want every Little Learner to understand that learning is a journey and that their efforts and achievements are something to be proud of.
Our Little Learners Community
Each year, we organise our Little Learners Picnic in the Park, bringing children, parents and carers together for a relaxed and enjoyable family day.
It provides a wonderful opportunity for families to get to know one another and for children to spend time with Little Learners friends they may not normally see during their usual childcare days.
We believe strong partnerships between children, parents, carers and ourselves help create the very best foundations for children’s development.

Sarah and Graham have been looking after my son since he was 9 months old and he is today almost 2. As a first time mom, at the beginning i was always worried, about how he was getting on during the day, if he had ate his lunch, nap…etc So i was constantly messaging Sarah & Graham and they always replied as soon as they can if not right away, they always been very supportive. They used an app which tell me lots about my son during the day. Like when they changed his nappy, how long he slept etc etc and i find that great. Despite the number of kids they have, they keep close eyes on leo and would let me know of anything. Example, he has loose stool issue at some point, to report it to my GP, they told me when it started, they told me the days it was loose spread on several months…
They are doing lots of activities together, learning, singing, playgrounds, teaching them stuff about every day life. And i always receive pictures and videos without having to ask for it, which is so lovely on their behalf cause they make my days when im at work =)
I will definitely leave my son under their care until he will have to leave to school, at nursery he will never have the close care he is having now.
So thank you so so much to both of you for making a such good team and taking so well care of my baby xx

My little girl has been at little learners for over a year now since she was 7 months old. I can not recommend Graham and Sarah more highly. Its a fabulous home from home setting with so much learning and fun. My Daughters development has come on leaps and bounds being in their care and she's always so happy when I collect her I can tell she's always had a great day! She absolutely loves Graham and gets so excited to see him. I feel so lucky to have found little learners and am so grateful to both for the care they provide.

My son started with Sarah and Graham when he was just 9 months old, and as a first-time mum, leaving him with someone else was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. From day one, they made the transition so much easier, offering reassurance, support, and genuine care that helped me feel completely comfortable.
The love, kindness, and attention they show to the children is second to none. He was always so happy to go there every day, and I knew he was being cared for in a safe, loving, and nurturing environment. They have played such an important role in his early years, helping him grow in confidence and supporting his development every step of the way.
Sarah and Graham have become a huge part of our lives, and I am genuinely gutted that he won't be going there anymore as he starts school. I honestly couldn't have asked for more from them. They have looked after him as if he were one of their own, and for that I will always be grateful.
Thank you for everything you have done for our family. We will miss you enormously, and I cannot recommend you highly enough

My children love going to Sarah and Graham. They both have build their confidence and social skills, my son is in year 2 currently and the transition to school was super easy. My little girl is currently at Sarah and Graham 4 days a week. She absolutely loves going and feels so safe under their care. Sarah and Graham are very caring and always have something fun planned for the little ones, whether its creative activities in the cabin or wet play outside.

My daughter has just left little learners for school. She had the best time at this setting being looked after by Graham and Sarah. My daughter always went in and came out just as happy, i felt very reassured and confident with my daughter’s care and safety. Would highly recommend, so much so my little boy is starting with them in the new year!!

My two-year-old daughter has been with Graham and Sarah for just over year now, and I can’t speak highly enough of the care they provide. From the very beginning, she felt safe, happy, and excited to go each day—which is every parent’s dream.
Graham and Sarah have created such a warm, engaging environment where learning and fun go hand in hand. My daughter has blossomed under their care, picking up new skills, making friends, and growing in confidence. She especially loves their regular trips to the park and playing with the flowing water helter skelter thingy!
They strike a perfect balance between structured learning and free play, always tailoring activities to suit each child’s age and interests. Communication is excellent, and I always feel reassured knowing she’s in such thoughtful, capable hands.
If you’re looking for childminders who genuinely care and go above and beyond, Graham and Sarah are absolutely fantastic.

Our little one has just left this childminder all prepped and ready for school. He thrived here and had the most amazing time. He has made friends for life and learnt so much in the nurturing, caring and fun atmosphere. He has become a confident and caring child and a lot of it is to do with the time he spent here. We were so sad to leave but our little one is now ready to take on the world with everything he has learnt from his time here!

My daughter has been going to little learners for the last 3 months and all though being a new mum I was apprehensive at first, Graham and Sarah soon made me feel comfortable knowing that she was safe, looked after and in a surrounding full of fun, happiness and smiles. She's only 9 months old and the smile she gives Graham when she sees him fills me with confidence and reassurance. It's a wonderful place that I would highly recommend.

Both of my children have attended Little Learners and have absolutely loved their time there. Graham is super engaged with the children and works hard to build great relationships with parents and carers. Both Sarah and Graham keep us all updated it all relevant info around our children and share pictures and stories from the brilliant times the children have with them.

Sarah and Graham are excellent childminders who provide a fun, safe and nurturing environment for our children. Both children love their time at Little Learners and the variety of activities and outings.

Appreciate your feedback thank you, we have not only had one child but 2, Little bundles of joy, we are blessed to see our little ones grow into superstars of life, sure it is sad to see them go, we understand we are just a small cog in their learning journey.
We had so much fun and proud of your eldest, he was a true courageous child able to take on anything life could through at him, he has grown up really fast, shedding his toddler traits and turning into a confident little man, unstoppable in his quest to succeed, we will miss him loads.
The good news is we have a confident new little bundle of fun for the next generation of superstars. xx
