Hi there! I’m Maggie. I have been taking care of children for 8 years and I absolutely love what I do. I consider myself gentle, patient and trustworthy and have been told I have a warm and kind energy both with children and adults.
I love the outdoors like trails, parks, and the beach. I'm super active but love quiet time as well. My passion is caring for infants, singing, laughing, and teaching through play as I find great satisfaction in watching them grow and reach milestones. However, I am experienced and open to working with older children.
I speak fluent english and near-fluent French. I have a driver's license, paediatric CPR training and provide a clear background check.
I loosely follow a montessori approach, the principles of promoting independence and following children's lead, but am open to many different ideas and love to learn. I love teaching basic sign language to babies and watching them learn to speak is one of my passions.
For me, nature is incredibly healing and great for children’s development, so I definitely prioritize outdoor time as much as possible- I’m not afraid of a bit of rain! I also enjoy taking children to community events, like baby classes and play groups, as it’s nice to keep busy and it’s also great for them to socialize. So a family that can allow me to facilitate a calendar with different outings would be appreciated. I think working with parents as a team to create the best environment for the child is so important and I love to keep relationships that are both professional and familiar, with open communication and trust.
My Experience
I have taught, done camp, been a private nanny and babysitter, and lifeguard. Most recently I have began house cleaning and working in a nursery, along with part time nanny work of 2 young children. I have been a private in home nanny for multiple children between the ages of 4 months to 10 years. I have experience with nappies and potty training, learning through play and music, taking children to school and programs and playgroups, feeding formula, bottles, purées and baby led weaning, and love to cook for children as well as the whole family. I am well-practiced with different sleep methods, from contact napping to sleep training.
My Qualifications
I have a drivers license, DBS check, and an up to date Red Cross CPR-C certification. I have done lots of reading on baby led weaning and the Montessori method, but I’d love to read your favourite parenting book! I am willing to obtain further certifications if needed.
