My Summary
About Me
I am a dedicated and compassionate individual with a strong interest in child development and early years education. I have experience working with children in both formal and informal settings, where I have developed key skills such as patience, creativity, and effective communication. I understand the importance of creating a safe, nurturing environment where children feel supported, encouraged, and free to express themselves. I am currently studying Childhood and Psychology, which has deepened my understanding of children’s physical, emotional, and cognitive development. This knowledge helps me respond to children’s individual needs and promote positive behaviour and learning through play and structured activities. I am also familiar with safeguarding procedures and committed to upholding the rights and wellbeing of every child. I enjoy working as part of a team and value clear communication with parents and colleagues to ensure consistent care. I am enthusiastic, reliable, and eager to contribute to a setting that prioritises high-quality childcare and early education.
My Experience
I have gained valuable hands-on experience in childcare through both personal and professional settings. I have regularly babysat for family friends’ children, ranging from toddlers to early primary school age. This has helped me develop practical skills in managing routines such as mealtimes, play, and bedtime, as well as responding calmly and patiently to the needs and emotions of young children. In addition, I completed a university placement at a local nursery, where I supported staff in planning and delivering age-appropriate activities, promoting learning through play, and maintaining a safe, inclusive environment. This placement deepened my understanding of early years development and strengthened my ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues. Both experiences have confirmed my passion for working with young children and contributing to their growth and wellbeing.
My Qualifications
I am currently studying for a degree in Childhood and Psychology at Nottingham Trent University, which has equipped me with a strong theoretical understanding of child development, learning, and behaviour. Through my course, I have studied key topics such as developmental psychology, safeguarding, inclusive practice, and the rights of the child. These academic insights have supported my practical work with children and enhanced my ability to respond to their individual needs in a sensitive and informed way.
