My Summary
About Me
Hi there! I am a 22 year old female student with previous childcare and education experience with children aged 3-16. I am looking for babysitting work around the West Bridgford/Rushcliffe area.
I have lived in West Bridgford almost my whole life, and attended both primary and secondary school here. I love dancing, exploring the outdoors, and reading - I am currently studying English Literature. I am friendly, reliable and dedicated, and I look forward to getting to know you and your family - drop me a text or give me a ring!
My Experience
Summary:
I have experience in both childcare and education settings.
As a result of my previous experience in both these contexts, I am comfortable supporting you in educational, developmental or emotional goals you may have for your children (such as homework or reading help, table manners, confidence, using kind words, or self-expression etc.).
If you choose to get in contact, we can also establish some rules and boundaries that will help me better support you professionally, give you peace of mind, and ensure your child's wellbeing.
Experience:
Before moving to university, I worked as a teaching assistant at a tutoring company. During my time there, I interacted with children aged 5-16, working on English, literacy and reading skills from reception all the way up to GCSE level. I worked hard to build a rapport with the children who, although occasionally reluctant to engage with more work after a busy school day, reacted positively to my warm and encouraging demeanour. If they came into the building with a frown, they always left with a smile!
I believe that compassion and patience is a key foundation on which children's educational and emotional development is predicated. Inevitably, there were a few instances of challenging behaviour, and when these occurred I managed the situation fairly, firmly and swiftly, always ensuring the children's emotional well-being took precedence whilst maintaining safeguarding procedures. I worked with students with developmental or learning difficulties during this time too, and often tailored my approach so that they felt equally as supported, acknowledged and uplifted as their neurotypical peers.
I have danced my whole life, and trained in ballet from the age of 2 to the age of 17. In secondary school, I volunteered at my ballet school in pre-primary and primary level lessons, which include students around the ages of 3 to 6. I found such joy in passing on the enriching skill of dance to younger students, and loved nurturing their expression and creativity. Often, I would be allocated to a particular pupil one-to-one and, with our teacher, we worked on exercises that strengthened the pupil's muscles and improved their co-ordination and balance, and allowed their imagination to guide them in story-based choreography. I was there to encourage, guide, help with concentration and playfully engage with their own ideas for the storylines of the dances. More practically, I assisted pupils with tasks such as getting (and keeping!) their shoes on, and chaperoning them to the toilet.
My Qualifications
I hold a valid DBS certificate. I have worked in childcare and education settings.
I am currently in my second year studying English Literature at university. In my first year I achieved a 1st. In previous years, I was the recipient of multiple awards for my academic achievements. In 2021, I achieved 3 A levels at grades A*, A* and A (English Literature, History and French), along with a grade A in my EPQ (a research project on women in politics).
I speak French confidently, Spanish at beginner level, and basic Russian.
My Availability
I am back in Nottingham for the summer (beginning of June to the end of September). I have no commitments, so I can be very flexible with working hours and short notice bookings - just give me a call! I will also be available in other seasonal periods, and we can discuss this if you wish to make future bookings.
