I am a 21 year old university student currently studying for a degree in Primary Education, aiming to become a primary school teacher within the next 1 - 2 years. I come from a large family and am the youngest of seven siblings, which has made me an aunt to seven children. I’ve worked in nurseries with children aged 10 months to 4 years, supporting their routines and learning through play. I also have experience of nannying children between the ages of 9 - 14. These experiences have developed my confidence, responsibility, and ability to adapt to different age groups with care and understanding.
My Experience
I have extensive hands-on experience in both nursery and home-based childcare settings, working with children from infancy through to early adolescence.
I worked in nursery settings with children aged 10 months to 4 years, where I supported their daily routines, including feeding, toilet training, and nap times. I contributed to the planning and delivery of age appropriate, play based learning activities that supported early development in areas such as language, motor skills, and social interaction. I developed strong relationships with both children and staff, learning how to manage group dynamics, encourage positive behaviour, and maintain a safe, nurturing environment.

My responsibilities include preparing meals each day, helping with homework, organising activities, managing school runs, and offering general supervision. This role has sharpened my ability to balance structure with flexibility, particularly when supporting children at different developmental stages. I’ve built trusting relationships with the children and their parents, and take pride in being a consistent, calm, and positive presence in their daily lives.
Across both roles, I’ve developed a strong sense of responsibility, adaptability, and communication skills, allowing me to confidently support children with varying needs and personalities.
