My Summary
Hi, I Am A Childminder Based In Ilkeston Derbyshire With Spaces Open For July 2025.
About Me
My name is Kym and I am currently waiting on my visit with Ofsted to become a child minder in Ilkeston, Derbyshire. My little business is called Blue Bear Day care, which I will be running from my lovely family home in Ilkeston. We’re currently waiting on the registration visit to our home nursery in July and hoping to be up and running shortly after.
A bit about me…
I have 4 beautiful children of my own. Lilly, Hayden and Jaxon are all quite a bit older than Bodhi, he’s the last little piece to our puzzle. They are all currently at senior school or college, so just me and Bodhi most of the day. We live with my husband Sam and he also has 3 beautiful children who are all older.
I have previously worked in a local nursery, then as a care worker and a suppprt worker, before returning to education. I have worked for the last 9 years as a Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant at a local SEN school, and also for a short time as a UQ teacher. I have worked with all ages from 4 years to post 16, and have completed courses in Medicine Management, ADHD and Autism, Epilepsy, Makaton, Intensive Interaction, Paediatric First Aid, Gastric feeding, Diabetes, Positive Play, Team Teach, Attention Autism, Bereavement, Child Attachment and many more over the years. We also all have up to date DBS checks for those over 16 living in our house, and I am a DSL. I’m currently completing a food allergy and intolerance training course, and have lots of EYFS knowledge to ensure the children with me reach their full potential.
I like to think I am very creative and have always found lots of fun activities for my own children and those who I have worked with. I believe that children learn and progress better when they are having fun! I aim to offer a ‘home from home’ care for children, within a happy family home.
We enjoy lots of outdoor time, exploring nature and also love messy play! Lots of crafts, cooking, role play and educational activities are also being planned.. We have lots of amazing toys and resources! I have a new summerhouse on our garden (The Cub House) that we will use as an outdoor classroom. I also have a 4 seater wagon that we will decorate at different points of the year. It will be perfect for adventures!
What we offer
• A fun, safe environment providing lots of engaging educational and creative activities for children aged 0-5 term time. We offer a home from home setting with very small groups of children, therefore places are limited. We also aim to provide care for older children during the school holidays.
• Hoping to offer funded places from September 2025, but also offer a private day rate for those who do not qualify for funding.
I am a Designated Safeguarding Lead and currently completing a food allergy and intolerance training course to be able to offer the best care possible. I have EYFS knowledge to ensure the children with me reach their full potential.
