Welcome to Little Giraffes Childminding Nursery—and thank you so much for taking the time to find out more about us. My name is Shireen, and I’m the owner and registered childminder here at Little Giraffes. I’m incredibly proud to offer a setting that is not only warm and loving, but truly feels like a second home for the children in our care.
Little Giraffes is a unique childminding nursery, combining the personal, nurturing approach of a childminder with the structure, rich learning opportunities, and professionalism of a nursery environment. It’s the best of both worlds—offering small group sizes, close bonds, and individual attention within a well-resourced and stimulating early years setting.
We are passionate about giving children the very best start in life. The early years are such a vital time—when children begin to build the foundations for communication, movement, emotional wellbeing, and lifelong learning. That’s why we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and have developed a thoughtful, play-based curriculum that supports each child’s learning and development through exploration, discovery, and meaningful experiences.
Our environment is carefully designed to encourage curiosity, creativity, and independence. We observe children closely, follow their interests, and plan activities that nurture confidence, social skills, and a love for learning.
Our dedicated team is chosen not only for their qualifications and experience in early childhood development, but also for their warmth, care, and passion for supporting young children. We work hard to build strong, trusting relationships with every family, so you can feel completely confident knowing your child is happy, safe, and thriving in our care.
We provide childcare for children aged 9 months to 5 years, and offer both 15 and 30 hour government-funded places. Our opening hours are Monday to Friday, from 7am to 6pm, giving families flexible and reliable childcare that fits around working life.

My Experience
Hello, I’m Shireen, the owner and registered childminder at Little Giraffes Childminding Nursery. I hold a BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Studies and have over 7 years of experience working across various early years and educational settings.
My career began as a nursery practitioner, where I developed a strong foundation in early years care, learning, and development. Over time, I progressed to become a nursery room leader, and later became part of the management team, giving me valuable insight into leadership, curriculum planning, and supporting staff to deliver high-quality care.
In addition to my nursery experience, I’ve also worked in primary schools, where I supported young children in their transition to school and contributed to their early learning in structured classroom environments. This has given me a well-rounded understanding of child development across the early years and into Key Stage 1.
Throughout my journey, I’ve gained expertise in:
Planning and delivering the EYFS curriculum
Safeguarding and child protection
Paediatric First Aid
Food hygiene and safety
Supporting children with additional needs and those from diverse cultural backgrounds

My Qualifications
I am committed to providing high-quality early years care and education, and I continually update my skills and knowledge through training and professional development. My key qualifications include:
BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Studies
A comprehensive degree focused on child development, early years education, safeguarding, and inclusive practice.
Level 3 Paediatric First Aid
Fully certified in emergency first aid, including CPR, choking, and common childhood illnesses and injuries.
Level 2 Food Hygiene and Safety
Ensures safe food handling, preparation, and storage practices when providing meals and snacks.
Level 2 Safeguarding and Child Protection
Trained in recognising signs of abuse, responding appropriately, and understanding safeguarding legislation.
Prevent Duty and British Values Training
Understanding how to promote inclusion, tolerance, and protect children from extremism and radicalisation.
EYFS Curriculum Training
Skilled in planning, observing, and assessing children’s learning in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage.
Experience in SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities)
Experienced in supporting children with a range of additional needs, including using inclusive strategies to meet individual developmental goals.

At Little Giraffes Childminding Nursery, we understand how important high-quality, affordable childcare is for families. That’s why we’re delighted to offer flexible pricing options that reflect the outstanding care and early education your child will receive in our warm, homely setting.
? Opening Special – Limited Time Only!
To celebrate our opening, we’re offering a promotional hourly rate of £8.50 (usual rate: £10.50/hour), valid for the first 3 months of opening.
? No hidden costs – Everything your child needs is included in this rate!
What’s Included in the Fees?
Your child’s care fee covers:
? Nutritious home-cooked meals
? Healthy snacks throughout the day
? Nappies & wipes
? Messy play, creative and educational activities
? Learning journals & developmental tracking
? Fun, love, and individual care in a homely environment
? You won’t need to bring anything unless you prefer to.
Government Funding
We proudly offer:
15 and 30 hours funded childcare for eligible 2, 3 and 4-year-olds
Sessions can be fully or partially funded depending on your entitlement
Additional hours and extras (e.g., meals) may incur a small charge outside funded time
