About Me
I’m a 30-year-old woman who has spent her whole life helping others academically. Even as a student, I found joy in supporting classmates - not by giving them answers, but by helping them figure things out for themselves. In Sixth Form, I even asked to assist in Maths lessons at the attached secondary school during my free periods, and this support was greatly appreciated.
At university, I volunteered in multiple primary schools and found a deep love for working with children. There’s nothing quite like hearing a child say “I get it now” after struggling with a topic - or watching their confidence grow as they begin to believe in themselves.
As a late-diagnosed autistic woman with ADHD, I often form strong connections with neurodiverse children. Many have instinctively gravitated toward me when they’ve felt misunderstood by others. Teachers have commented on my insight and asked for my perspective when noticing possible signs of neurodiversity, and I’ve been told that my presence as a neurodivergent adult is uniquely valuable. I truly see my neurodivergence as a strength - it allows me to connect with children, model self-acceptance, and share the message that difference is something to celebrate. I live by the motto “always be yourself”, and I share that mindset with every child I work with.
My Experience
I have several years’ experience volunteering and training in a range of primary schools, supporting children from Year 1 to Year 6. I’ve delivered both one-to-one and small-group maths interventions - including helping one child move from Below Expected Standard to Greater Depth - and have received consistent praise from staff and families. One parent wrote, “Thank you for all you’ve done with [child’s name]. You’ve made her a happier and more confident little girl.”
I’ve also run multiple after-school maths clubs aimed at building enjoyment and engagement in the subject. Each has received positive feedback, and schools have asked me to re-run the programmes.
Most recently, I’ve completed two-thirds of a Primary PGCE, where I’ve taught whole-class lessons across a range of age groups (Year 1/2, Year 5/6, and Year 6). This involved safeguarding training and an Enhanced DBS check, which I can bring to any first session.
