Hi, I’m Harry Marlow – a second-year MEng Chemical Engineering student at the University of Surrey with a strong academic background and a passion for helping others learn. I achieved A grades in A Level Maths and Biology, a B in Chemistry, and 13 GCSEs including a 9 in Maths and 9-9 in Science.
I’ve developed teaching and mentoring skills through classroom-based peer support, where I assisted younger students with their schoolwork, and through helping to run children’s Kung Fu classes. These experiences taught me how to explain ideas clearly, adapt to different learning styles, and build confidence in learners.
I’m patient, reliable, and genuinely enjoy helping students tackle tricky topics—especially in Maths and Science. My goal is to help students not only understand the material but feel more confident and independent in their learning.
My Experience
I have experience supporting younger students both in academic and extracurricular settings. While at St Simon Stock Catholic School, I provided in-class support to Year 8 pupils, helping them with their work during lessons. This involved explaining tasks clearly, encouraging focus, and adapting my help to suit individual needs — all of which built my confidence in supporting different learning styles.
Outside the classroom, I helped teach and run children’s Kung Fu classes, where I guided students through new skills, broke down complex movements, and supported their progress in a positive, engaging way. These experiences taught me patience, clear communication, and how to make learning enjoyable and accessible.
Combined with my strong academic background — including A Levels in Maths (A), Biology (A), and Chemistry (B), and current study of MEng Chemical Engineering at the University of Surrey — I am well-equipped to tutor students in Maths and Science subjects at various levels.
