My Experience
In my current sixth form position, I support students through academic pressures, university applications, and the transition to independent learning, regularly working one-on-one with students who need additional guidance and managing diverse learning needs. During my time on the secondary school pastoral team, I provided emotional support to students facing various challenges, from friendship issues to family difficulties, developing strong skills in active listening, conflict resolution, and recognising when students needed additional professional support.
As an NCS Team Leader, I guided groups of 15-17 year olds through week-long residential programs, managing everything from homesickness to team conflicts while planning and delivering workshops on leadership, community engagement, and personal development. I ensured the safety and wellbeing of participants during outdoor activities and community projects, giving me experience in high-responsibility situations with teenagers.
Growing up with three younger sisters has provided hands-on experience with different developmental stages, from toddler tantrums to teenage challenges, helping with everything from potty training to exam stress. This has given me a deep understanding of how children's needs evolve and how to adapt my approach accordingly. I'm experienced in creating age-appropriate activities, managing multiple children simultaneously, maintaining calm during stressful situations, and am comfortable with school pick-ups, after-school activities, and adapting to different family routines and parenting styles.
