My Summary
About Me
I am a fun and energetic person who enjoys creating opportunities for children that allow them to develop and learn. I love spending time outside and also love messy play!
My Experience
I have been working at Little Trees St Arvans since November 2022, in the time I have been there I have worked in the preschool room and in the 2-3 year old room. I have completed my level 2 and level 3 children’s care, play, learning and development qualification. In preschool I confidently completed observations and assessments for my key children and followed the preschool curriculum when completing planning. As the curriculum in under 3s has changed I have been able to implement my knowledge of the preschool curriculum and my learning about the new under 3 curriculum into the 2-3 age group. My team lead in this room worked 3 days a week, the days they did not work I confidently ran the room and managed the daily routine and staff within the room. In January 2024 I was promoted to team lead position in our under-two’s unit and this is my current role. In this role I over see a team of up to 6 staff per day in their roles of caring and providing education for the children. A bit part of my job is ensuring the happiness of both the staff and the children, I love planning different activities for the children and allowing them to learn through experiences. Outdoor play is really important to me and I’ve spent a lot of time and training understanding the impact being outdoor and in nature has on children. As a team leader I work with my staff to complete observations and assessments on the children and I have great knowledge on the Welsh yearly year curriculum. I really enjoy planning activities for this age group and following their curiosity and interests which allows me to see their development over time.
Camp Jones Gulch
Summers of 2023, 2024, 2025.
During summer 2023 and summer 2024 I spent 12 weeks working at a summer camp in America. I was responsible for a group of 14 children 24 hours a day, this is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. I had to ensure all children were safe and happy to ensure they could make memories to last a lifetime. My role was a camp counsellor, in this role I made sure children were on time with the daily schedule of activities and meals, taught outdoor education, took children on many nature hikes, competed many arts and crafts activists. This experience boosted my confidence tremendously and allowed me to have confidence in what I do and the decisions I make. I have recently returned from working my final summer at Camp Jones Gulch, I spent this summer as the 5-9 year old camper lead. In this role I was responsible for overseeing all the camp activities, staff and children in this age group, this helped me to develop my problems solving, allowed me to learn how to adapt things quickly and think on my feet as well as keeping up with all the safety aspects of camp for this age. The summers I have spent at camp have truly shaped me into the person I am now, it has taught me how to have fun in my job and enjoy spending time with children all while giving them the opportunities to grow, develop and thrive. During my time working in childcare I have also helped families with extra out of hours care. I did wrap around care for a family which involved getting the child reading in the mornings and then dropping the child to school. I also have done lots of evening and weekend babysitting with ages from 8 weeks up to 10 years old. I recently went with one of the families that I regularly babysit for to the isle of wight for their wedding where I took care of their two girls throughout the wedding day.
My Qualifications
I have my level 3 in children’s care, play, learning and development. I also have paediatric first aid.
