About Me
I’m a first-time mum returning to work (flexibly and self employed). I work in digital services, alongside being a qualified netball coach and player.
After spending 10 years in sunny Saddleworth, I’ve returned to south Manchester after the birth of my daughter.
My Requirements
Looking for a warm, experienced baby-loving soul ? (flexible, local to Ladybarn)
We’re looking for someone genuinely wonderful to care for our 8-month-old daughter in our home in Ladybarn (just off Parrswood Road) while one of us works from home.
The Role:
- Around 8 hours a week to start (ideally over 2 days – Thursday availability would be brilliant)
- Flexible hours – could suit a parent, student or someone wanting a calm, part-time setup
- In our home – one of us will always be in the house, but we need someone confident and capable of taking the lead with baby’s care during that time
Baby is a happy, social little one – she’s sitting and rolling, loves contact and cuddles, and thrives on attention, songs and play. We’re keen to find someone who’ll happily join her world, plan age-appropriate fun, and be on board with things like messy play or park trips once everyone’s settled.
She usually takes 3 naps per day. During naps, we’d appreciate help with light housekeeping duties like folding laundry or washing baby’s bottles occasionally but equally, you’re welcome to chill out—make a drink, relax, watch TV, read, or even get on with some of your own work or studies. We have Netflix, NowTV, Amazon Prime etc., and you’re free to help yourself to tea, coffee, juice or snacks.
However, when the baby is awake, we expect your undivided attention. No phones, no distractions—just quality interaction, play and care. We’ve worked hard to avoid screen time (other than the very occasional Bluey when she’s poorly), so we’re looking for someone who shares our view that babies don’t need screens to be entertained.
What the role involves:
- Playing and interacting with baby while she’s awake
- Changing nappies, feeding bottles or baby food pouches (we’ll show you how she likes things done)
- Light planning of age-appropriate, stimulating activities—messy play, songs, reading, sensory games (we’re happy to purchase any materials needed!)
- Occasional park trips once baby is settled and everyone’s confident
- Keeping baby safe, loved, and happy while we work nearby
She has lots of toys and loves to explore with adult supervision—we’re looking for someone who can slot in with warmth, ease, and genuine care.
About You:
- You love babies and toddlers and have experience with little ones (childcare background, previous nannying, parenting, or studies in childcare/health & social care)
- You’re warm, reliable, playful and naturally nurturing – the kind of person who treats babies like their own
- You’re either DBS-checked or happy to apply for one
- You’re a non-smoker (or won’t smoke during working hours)
- You’re local-ish to Ladybarn and able to get to us reliably—walking or driving, either is fine
- You’re open to longer-term work (we’d love to find someone who could stay with us for at least 10 months)
- You’re comfortable with basic hygiene (e.g. handwashing after nappy changes, before feeding, etc.) to keep baby well
- Would be happy to engage fully when baby’s awake, but unwind and make yourself at home while she naps
Pay & Employment:
We’re happy to pay at least £10/hr depending on experience, and can offer either self-employed or payroll—whichever suits you.
In future, there’s potential for a second baby to join on occasion (flat rate for your time, not per child so please factor this into your requirements).
What happens next:
If you think this sounds like a good fit, please comment or message with a little about yourself—your experience, availability, and why you feel this role might suit you.
We’ll read all responses and reach out directly to those we’d like to speak to.
Here’s what the process looks like:
1) A casual chat (via phone or messaging)
2) A meet-up over coffee so we can get a feel for each other and see how the vibe is
3) A short, paid trial session where you care for baby while we’re at home
4) If we’re all happy, we’d love to make things official and get started!
We’re really excited to find someone who will become both a cherished part of our little one’s world and our family.
Thanks so much for reading ?
