My Summary
About Me
Heya!my name is shashimeayia (Mia preferred or for short ) I have a son who is 6 years old. currently would say I’m a full-time work mummy I do love to work but also love being a mum. I’ve been in chidlcare for around five years, primarily nurseries but also after school club through the agency the children I’ve worked with during after school club were ranging from reception to year 6 (4-11 years old). And nurseries settings were aging from 4 months old to 4years of age I plan to work as a teaching assistant in a primary school in the near future, and I aspire to become a social worker to make a difference. Additionally, I hope to foster children one day, providing them with a loving home where they feel welcomed. When my son went to nursery, he made a good friend, and I became friends with the child's parents. We formed a strong relationship, and they asked me to babysit their son for a couple of hours. I took the boys to the park, where they got stuck in the mud, as boys will be boys. They were delighted, and both me and the parents were happy with the outcome. They asked me to look after him a few more times and even recommended me to one of their friends. Unfortunately, I moved away from that area, so I wasn't able to babysit anymore due to the distance. I'm an auntie to two nieces under the age of two, whom I babysit. I have a best friend of 10 years who is the same age as me, and she has a daughter who is 11 months apart from my son. My son and her daughter have grown up together, and I look after her daughter when needed, and she does the same for me.
My Experience
I’ve worked as a nursery assistant for 4 years with my current agency plus one year with my old agency. Both agencies specialise in nursery work or after school clubs age range 6months old- 11years of age) I’ve worked in a nursery in south east London where most of
The children were SEN for 4months through my agency I really enjoyed the experienced and seeing how children look at the world in a diffident light , one of the children that I’m nannying currently is SEN they have Down syndrome so they are so lovely and cute/funny! they are able to understand everything but just not vocalise themselves with words so I’ve learnt a little of the basics of Makaton sign language which I’m still practising and learning more so I can improve and get much better for the child. Currently have two families ones in Wandsworth which I do weekly drops off (wasn’t through this app but privately 3 days a week dropping the child to nursery)and the other family is through another app (which you might of heard of before)I do pick ups three days a week in Brixton(during term times but have been working with them during this summer holidays a few days a week). I’m looking for more hours and greater opportunities(forgot to mention for my drops off starting September again I am able to choose the days I’m available with my other family which I still haven’t decided yet)
My Qualifications
I don’t have any qualifications I’m afraid but I’ve done my first aid training Safe guarding training nannying training through the main nannying app I have I’ve got an enhanced dbs due to nursery work which is on the update service worked with children since 2020, and have my own child aswell :) also im going to put down my qualities I would say i have down below :)
Nurturing- I’ve worked with children for five years now as well as have my own child and usually children in a new work environment that I’ll be in will gravitate towards me almost instantly. I do believe children can sense aura and someone who’s genuine in those types of environment and because I’ve worked with children for half a decade it’s just natural instinct for me to feel comfortable and confident around children so they feel my trust and so I can gain their trust aswell I think that is very important. I’m able to calm down a lot of children that can be very difficult and stressful for some peers.
Positive attitude- I would say I’m very positive at work I will always smile I’m a very bubbly and warm person and I try to make children I’m looking after feel happy, loved and safe even in the most stressful and uncomfortable time. I think having a positive attitude when looking after children is very important and a necessity.
Imaginative play- I’ve worked in childcare for half a decade so I’ve observed and I’m able to create imaginative play activities , messy play actives, food play activities, focus and concentration and focus activities for the children as well as engage in the child’s interests.
