About Me

Heya! my name is meayia I have a son who is 7 years old.I usually like to work work full time aswell as manage being a mother and have support of my partner for me to be able to work full time.I’ve been in chidlcare for around 6 years, primarily nurseries but also after school club through the agency who specialised in nursery work and some after school clubs the children I’ve worked with during after school club were ranging from reception to year 6 (4-11 years old). And nurseries settings were aging from 4 months old to 4years of age. I plan in the future to still work with children. and I aspire to become a social worker or something around the profession to help better children lives.Additionally, I hope to foster children one day, providing them with a loving home where they feel welcomed and loved. When my son went to nursery, he made a good friend, and I became friends with the child's parents. We formed a strong relationship, and they asked me to babysit their son for a couple of hours a few times a week.I took the boys to the park, where they got stuck in the mud, as boys will be boys. They were delighted, and both me and the parents were happy with the outcome. They asked me to look after him a few more times and even recommended me to one of their friends. Unfortunately, I moved away from that area, so I wasn't able to babysit anymore due to the distance. I'm an auntie to two nieces under the age of 3. Also within the year I’ve been a Nannies to a few a families some of the roles were short term some of the roles were long term. I found the families through a main popular nannying app you might know. One of the families I did a contract through the official website I found the parents on, the rest of the families i found through the website but we furthered opportunities privately. I’ve nannied a child with SEN who had Down syndrome the child was non verbal at one point so for me and the children to communicate and understand each other I learned the basics of Makaton sign language.

My Qualifications

I don’t have any qualifications I’m afraid but I’ve done my first aid training Safe guarding training nannying training through the nursery agency and the nannying website i have worked with. Im going to put down my qualities

Nurturing- I’ve worked with children for five years now as well as have my own child and usually children in a new work environment that I’ll be in will gravitate towards me almost instantly. I do believe children can sense energy and someone who’s genuine in those types of environment and because I’ve worked with children for half a decade it’s just natural instinct for me to feel comfortable and confident around children so they feel my trust and so I can gain their trust aswell I think that is very important. I’m able to calm down a lot of children that can be very difficult and stressful for some peers.

Positive attitude- I would say I’m very positive at work I will always smile I’m a very bubbly and warm person and I try to make children I’m looking after feel happy, loved and safe even in the most stressful and uncomfortable time. I think having a positive attitude when looking after children is very important and a necessity.

Imaginative play- I’ve worked in childcare for half a decade so I’ve observed and I’m able to create imaginative play activities , messy play actives, food play activities, focus and concentration and focus activities for the children as well as engage in the child’s interests.

Communication skills- in my work environment I am able to show good communication skills to the point where my room leader or my peers will ask me/give them advice on a certain activity they will set up I will sometimes direct them or give them my own opinion on how I would set something up. With nannying i think feedback is very important negative and positive and will to give advice to parents who willing ask and is/are open to recommendations vice versa.

Caring and attentive: My child has definitely taught me to be patient and understanding. Working with children has taught me that as well. My son can have days where he’s very frustrated and irritated. I always ask him what is wrong and encourage him to tell me how he feels. My son is emotionally aware, so he’ll express his feelings if he’s upset. We talk about it and come up with a solution to the situation. If he’s still frustrated, I ask him if he needs a moment alone to think and calm down. He usually says yes, and I respect his boundaries by leaving him alone for a few minutes. When he’s ready, he usually comes to me first, saying he wants to talk about it. I believe it’s very important to let children calm down and understand their emotions and regulate their feelings and emotions. And that’s just not with my son I like to implicate that with children I work with.
