About Me
Self-Employed Nanny Opportunity Worcester (October 2025 Start)
Dear Prospective Childcare Provider,
We are a family based in Worcester seeking to engage a highly experienced and emotionally attuned self-employed childcare professional to support us in caring for our baby, who will be nine months old in October 2025.
Following many years of longing to become parents, our child is at the centre of our world. We wish to collaborate with an individual who brings presence, intuition, and heartfelt commitment to their work, and who regards early childhood care as both a vocation and a skilled professional endeavour.
Our Parenting Approach
We practise a calm, baby-led, and emotionally respectful approach to parenting. Our home is quiet, warm, and gently structured. We place great emphasis on secure attachment, intuitive caregiving, and the importance of responding to our baby’s needs with intention, consistency, and care.
We are seeking to engage a childcare professional who shares these values and who will approach their work with warmth, deep curiosity, and respect for early childhood development.
Nature of the Engagement
This is a self-employed position. We are seeking a professional who:
• Operates as an independent childcare provider
• Offers services to multiple clients, rather than exclusively to our family
• Maintains autonomy over their schedule, approach, and working hours, within a mutually agreed framework
• Issues formal invoices for services rendered
• Assumes full responsibility for their own tax, insurance, and professional obligations
There may be occasions where the provider is invited to accompany the family during professional or family travel within the United Kingdom. All such arrangements will be discussed and agreed upon in advance.
Services Required
We are seeking to engage a provider who can offer a package of services including, but not limited to, the following:
• Delivery of age-appropriate developmental activities and participation in social outings, such as classes and playgroups
• Support for the baby’s development in accordance with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) or comparable frameworks
• Creation and maintenance of a nurturing, emotionally responsive caregiving environment
• Completion of baby-related practical tasks, including sterilising bottles, managing laundry, and maintaining order in baby-designated areas
• Clear and consistent communication regarding care routines, observations, developmental progress, and general wellbeing
We are also open to discussing additional services that the provider may wish to offer, such as light household support, vehicle valeting, or family-related errands, as part of their self-employed offering.
Working Arrangement
We anticipate engaging your services for approximately eighteen to thirty hours per week across three to four weekdays. However, as a self-employed provider, you will propose your own availability, and we will work together to agree upon suitable timeframes on a flexible basis.
This engagement is intended to be long-term and is expected to commence in October 2025. There is some flexibility for an earlier start should that be mutually agreeable.
Fees and Mileage
You will be responsible for setting your own rates and for issuing invoices accordingly. Where you are required to travel for work-related purposes using your own vehicle (for example, transporting the baby to classes), we will reimburse mileage in line with HM Revenue and Customs’ prevailing rates. Reimbursement will only apply to journeys made in your own vehicle and for agreed business purposes.
Safeguarding and Monitoring
Please be advised that nanny cameras and home monitoring systems are operational in designated areas of the family home. These measures are in place as part of our safeguarding protocols. If you do not feel comfortable working in an environment where monitoring systems are used, we respectfully request that you do not apply.
Candidate Profile
We are seeking a childcare professional who meets the following criteria:
• Operates on a self-employed basis and manages their own professional responsibilities
• Possesses significant experience in caring for infants under twelve months of age
• Demonstrates emotional intelligence, calmness, and strong intuition
• Holds a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate and a current Paediatric First Aid certification
• Possesses a full United Kingdom driving licence and a fully insured, roadworthy vehicle
• Can provide recent and relevant professional references
• Is open to domestic travel within the United Kingdom, where agreed
• Holds Norland or equivalent professional qualifications (advantageous but not essential)
• Is bilingual or multilingual (an advantage but not a requirement)
Professional Development
We support continued professional development and are open to discussing how this engagement may contribute to your broader learning goals. While not guaranteed, we will consider supporting additional training or CPD activities that align with the care of our child.
Self-Employment Declaration
This is a self-employed contractor role, not an employed position. By applying for this engagement, you confirm the following:
• That you are legally entitled to work in the United Kingdom on a self-employed basis
• That you are fully responsible for your own income tax, National Insurance contributions, and any other obligations arising from your self-employment
• That you offer services to multiple clients and operate with autonomy in determining your working practices
• That you understand and accept that you are not entitled to employment benefits such as paid holiday leave, statutory sick pay, or pension contributions
• That you will provide appropriate documentation upon request, including a Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR), confirmation of professional insurance if held, and any applicable professional registrations
If at any point the working arrangement ceases to meet the criteria set out by HM Revenue and Customs for self-employment, you accept full responsibility for disclosing this and taking appropriate action. The family bears no responsibility for the management of your employment or tax status.
For further guidance, please consult the official HMRC guidelines on self-employment
Expression of Interest
If this opportunity aligns with your experience, professional values, and current availability, we would be pleased to arrange an informal conversation to explore the potential for collaboration. We would like to express our appreciation for your work in early years care and the meaningful contribution you make to children’s lives.
Yours sincerely,
The De Vere Family
