About Me
Dear Prospective Candidate
We are a family based in Worcester seeking an exceptionally experienced and emotionally attuned nanny to care for our baby who will be nine months old in October 2025. After many years of longing to become parents, our child is the centre of our world. We require a dedicated professional who understands how to provide care that extends beyond the fundamentals; someone who brings deep presence, intuition, and heartfelt commitment to their work.
Our Parenting Philosophy
We adopt a calm, baby-led, and emotionally respectful approach to parenting. Our home environment is quiet, warm, and gently structured. We hold firm beliefs in secure attachment, intuitive caregiving, and responding attentively to our baby’s needs with intention and care.
We seek a nanny who shares these values and recognises that the early years are not merely important but foundational. This individual will engage with our baby with genuine warmth, curiosity, and respect.
About the Role
This is a shared care position requiring close collaboration with myself as the mother. I will work remotely on certain days and attend in-person meetings on others. You will be expected to accompany me and our baby during work commitments and must be willing to travel within the United Kingdom. This travel will be primarily for professional purposes but may include family trips.
You will also be responsible for taking our baby to multiple age-appropriate developmental classes and activities each week, either with or without my presence depending on my schedule and preferences.
Please note that discreet nanny cameras and home monitoring systems are operational in designated areas of our home as part of our safeguarding measures. Transparency and safety are paramount. It is essential that you feel comfortable working in an environment with such monitoring; if this is not the case, we respectfully ask that you do not apply.
This position is offered on a self-employed basis. As such, you will be responsible for managing your own tax affairs and National Insurance contributions. We will agree mutually on hours, remuneration, and responsibilities; however, the legal framework will reflect your self-employed status.
This is not a passive childcare role. We seek someone who brings emotional intelligence, energy, and a strong sense of vocation. You should take pride in playing a significant role in the formative years of a child’s life.
Responsibilities
In addition to providing daily infant care, you will be expected to:
• Take the baby to regular developmental classes and social activities
• Monitor and support the baby’s developmental milestones using the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework
• Identify any developmental delays and devise thoughtful strategies to support progress
• Maintain a consistent nurturing environment that fosters secure attachment and healthy emotional regulation
• Uphold strict hygiene protocols to safeguard the baby’s health and wellbeing at home and during outings or group activities, including thorough handwashing, sanitising toys and surfaces, and adhering to health precautions when travelling or in public settings
• Support the general tidiness and cleanliness of the home, including all rooms and shared living areas
• Assist with light household tasks such as laundry, washing bottles, and running family errands
• Clean and valet family vehicles as part of your duties to ensure they are safe, tidy, and ready for use
• Maintain the baby’s room and belongings to a high standard
• Communicate openly and consistently with the family throughout the day, providing timely updates via messaging, brief check-ins, or written notes, and sharing observations or concerns proactively
Mileage Reimbursement
If you use your own vehicle for work-related travel such as transporting the baby to developmental classes, appointments, or accompanying us to meetings, and you are the driver, you will be reimbursed for mileage expenses. Reimbursement will be calculated according to the current HM Revenue and Customs approved mileage rates to fairly cover fuel, maintenance, and insurance costs. Mileage claims should be submitted with a simple log of dates, destinations, and miles travelled.
Please note that this reimbursement applies only when you are driving your own vehicle. If you travel in the family vehicle, mileage reimbursement will not apply.
Professional Development
We value ongoing learning and professional growth and encourage a nanny who is interested in pursuing relevant training or continuing professional development (CPD) courses to further enhance their skills and knowledge in infant care and early childhood development. While not guaranteed, we are open to discussing potential opportunities to support your development during your tenure.
Requirements
We seek a candidate who:
• Has substantial experience in caring for infants under twelve months of age
• Demonstrates emotional intelligence, calmness, and high levels of intuition
• Is professional, reliable, and comfortable working independently or collaboratively with a parent
• Is skilled in observing and supporting early childhood development in accordance with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework
• Holds a current Paediatric First Aid certification
• Has an enhanced DBS check
• Can provide strong and recent references
• Possesses a full United Kingdom driving licence and owns a reliable, insured vehicle
• Is comfortable with domestic and professional travel within the United Kingdom
• Has Norland training or comparable qualifications (advantageous but not essential)
• Is bilingual or multilingual (advantageous but not essential)
Working Pattern
We offer flexible coverage of approximately 18-30 hours per week across 3-4 weekdays (Typically no weekends, unless travelling with us for a holiday, or if I have professional commitments away from the family home). The exact hours may vary week to week in accordance with the demands of my professional commitments. The role is expected to commence in October 2025, although an earlier start may be considered for the right candidate. This position is intended to be long term.
What We Are Looking For
We seek an individual who genuinely loves childcare and views their work as a meaningful and skilled vocation. You must be emotionally invested, confident in interpreting infant cues, and adaptable to a rhythm led by the child’s needs rather than adult convenience.
Given the shared nature of this role, we require someone who is willing to develop a close working relationship with myself, effectively becoming a trusted partner and friend to ensure a harmonious caregiving environment.
This position is not suitable for candidates seeking routine-only childcare. We desire a nanny who is attentive, observant, and proud of their integral role in shaping a child’s early development.
Confidentiality and Respect
As part of working closely within our family environment, you are expected to maintain the utmost confidentiality and respect regarding our family’s privacy and personal matters.
Next Steps
If this opportunity aligns with your experience, values, and aspirations, we would welcome the opportunity to arrange an informal meeting to explore whether this could be a mutually suitable partnership.
Thank you for considering this role. We recognise and deeply appreciate the dedication and skill required to care for a young child with true presence and intention.
Warm regards, De Vere
