Tudor Tots Childcare
Childminder in Hook
My Summary
Qualified Teacher And Experienced Parent Offering Nurturing, Reliable Childcare
About Me
I’m a qualified teacher and mum to four children (aged 16, 14, 8 and 3). In 2026, after nearly 20 years of teaching, I made the move into childminding so I can focus on the heart of early years and offer a more personal, nurturing environment that truly reflects my values and passion for early childhood development.
At Tudor Tots Childcare, I provide a warm, home-from-home setting where childhood is cherished, curiosity is nurtured, and learning unfolds naturally through meaningful play and connection.
Influenced by the Curiosity Approach and the cosy, connected feeling of Hygge, I support children’s natural curiosity and their understanding of the world around them, both indoors and outdoors. I aim to provide an environment where every child feels valued, secure, and inspired, all of which helps them to grow in confidence and reach their full potential.
Children in my care are encouraged to lead their own learning through play, discovery, and connection with the world around them. I offer intentional, meaningful play opportunities using mostly natural and open-ended materials tailored to each child’s age, interests, and needs. Outdoor adventures are a regular part of our day, whether that’s spending time in our child-friendly garden, splashing in puddles, visiting a local park, or simply enjoying moments of wonder in the world around us.
My setting is designed to be as supportive to families as it is nurturing for children. Everything your child is likely to need during their day here is included in the fees, so if you wanted to drop them off with just the clothes and shoes they’re wearing, that’s absolutely fine. I’ll take care of the rest!
As a working parent myself, I understand how busy life can get and how the logistics of childcare can sometimes feel overwhelming. My aim is to make things as stress-free and straightforward as possible, so that when you collect your little one, you can focus on what really matters: being fully present for them.
Through my experience as both a teacher and a parent, I understand how important it is to build trust, maintain good communication, and truly get to know each child. While your child is with me, you can rest assured they’ll be cared for with the same care, attention, kindness, and respect I would want for my own children.
I’m committed to building strong, respectful partnerships with families and sharing each child’s journey with you, celebrating the joys, discoveries, and milestones every step of the way.
My Experience
I’ve always been drawn to working with children. From early roles at after-school and holiday clubs, through to my 19 years as a qualified primary school teacher, childcare has been a constant in my life. In total, I’ve spent over 25 years supporting children’s development and I’m lucky enough to be able to now do this in a more personal, home-based setting.
I’m particularly passionate about the early years and helping children grow through curiosity, play, and real connection. I believe that every child is unique and deserves care that reflects their individual needs, interests, and pace of learning.
Throughout my teaching career, I’ve specialised in the early years and Key Stage 1, where play-based learning and strong relationships are at the heart of good practice. My approach is heavily influenced by the Curiosity Approach, Hygge in the Early Years, and helping to foster a love of the outdoors — placing emotional wellbeing, creativity, and nature-based learning front and centre.
I hold all the relevant training and certifications required for childminding, including:
* Paediatric First Aid
* Safeguarding and Designated Lead Training
* Food Hygiene
* Enhanced DBS
I’m also currently working towards my Hygge in the Early Years accreditation and am committed to continuous professional development. I regularly engage in new training to ensure my knowledge stays current and reflects best practice. Currently I am undertaking the Early Years SENCO training.
