My Summary
About Me
Hello, I’m the face behind Tudor Tots Childcare.
I’m a qualified teacher and mum to 4 children (aged 16, 14, 8 and 3). After many rewarding years teaching, I’m excited to begin a new chapter — one that will run alongside my teaching role, allowing me to focus on the heart of early years and offer a more personal, nurturing environment that truly reflects my values and passion for early childhood development.
As I begin on this journey into childminding, my vision is to create a warm, home-from-home setting where childhood is cherished, curiosity is nurtured, and learning unfolds naturally through meaningful play and connection.
Influenced by the Curiosity Approach, the cozy, connected feeling of Hygge, and the hands-on exploration of forest school activities, I aim to provide an environment where every child feels valued, secure, and inspired —all of which ensures each child can reach their true potential.
Children in my care will be encouraged to lead their own learning through play, discovery, and connection with the world around them. I will offer intentional, meaningful play opportunities, using mostly natural and open-ended materials tailored to each child’s age and unique interests and needs.
The atmosphere will be calm, cosy and homely filled with real-life resources, and inviting spaces that support both creativity and quiet reflection. Outdoor adventures will be a regular part of our day, whether that’s exploring local woodland, digging in the dirt, splashing in puddles or just having moments of wonder in the world.
As both a teacher and a parent, I understand the importance of trust, communication, and truly knowing each child. I’m committed to building strong, respectful partnerships with families, and sharing each child’s journey with you along the way - all the joys, discoveries and milestones.
My Experience
I’ve always been drawn to working with children. From early roles at after-school and holiday clubs, through to my 17 years as a qualified primary school teacher, childcare has been a constant in my life. In total, I’ve spent over 25 years supporting children’s development — and now I’m excited to do so in a more personal, home-based setting.
I’m particularly passionate about the early years and helping children grow through curiosity, play, and real connection. I believe that every child is unique and deserves care that reflects their individual needs, interests, and pace of learning.
Throughout my teaching career, I’ve specialised in the early years and Key Stage 1, where play-based learning and strong relationships are at the heart of good practice. My approach is heavily influenced by the Curiosity Approach, Hygge in the Early Years, and forest school principles — placing emotional wellbeing, creativity, and nature-based learning front and centre.
I hold all the relevant training and certifications required for childminding, including:
* Paediatric First Aid
* Safeguarding and Designated Lead Training
* Food Hygiene
* Enhanced DBS
I’m also currently working towards my Hygge in the Early Years accreditation and am committed to continuous professional development. I regularly engage in new training to ensure my knowledge stays current and reflects best practice.
