About Me
We are Bilal and Sidra Mian, full-time carers for our 8-year-old son, Isa, who has Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and a Severe to Moderate Learning Disability. Isa benefits from a structured, calm, and personalised learning environment that supports his developmental level and emotional regulation needs.
As parents, we work with consistency, clear routines, and a strong safeguarding mindset. We follow evidence-based strategies, use visual prompts, and adapt sessions to ensure Isa is learning safely and meaningfully. We collaborate with all professionals involved in his care and take a proactive approach to reviewing his progress.
We will also be available to support the tutor as assistants whenever required, helping with transitions, managing sensory or behavioural needs, and maintaining a positive, safe learning environment.
While previous SEN experience is helpful, it is not essential. We welcome tutors who are patient, calm, reliable, and willing to follow our guidance and Isa’s learning plan. Full orientation and support will be provided.
Any tutor joining us will find a respectful, organised, and supportive home environment, with parents who are fully committed to working in partnership to help Isa learn effectively and comfortably.
My Requirements
Isa is a cute, cheeky, and affectionate 8-year-old boy with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and a Severe to Moderate Learning Disability. He has been home-schooled for over a year, and he thrives in calm, structured, one-to-one learning environments.
Isa genuinely loves learning—especially numbers. He can count and write numbers up to nearly 1000 and enjoys counting games, sequences, and anything involving numerical patterns. He becomes excited and focused when learning activities include numbers.
Isa is also beginning to form and write simple English sentences independently, such as:
“Can I have water?”
This shows encouraging early literacy development, and he benefits from tasks that combine visuals, repetition, and gentle modelling.
Isa responds best when sessions follow a predictable structure, with clear beginnings and endings, simple language, and visual, hands-on activities. He enjoys short, engaging tasks, positive praise, calm tones, and patient guidance.
At home, Isa’s parents use tickles as a reward after he completes tasks, which helps him feel happy and connected. For tutoring sessions, positive tools such as verbal praise, high-fives, clapping, stickers, or number-based rewards help keep him motivated in a safe and professional way.
Isa builds strong connections once he feels comfortable and often becomes warm, playful, and enthusiastic with familiar adults who respect his pace and routines.
