About Me
Hello! My name is Daisy, I'm a 21-year-old student from Manchester, and I'm currently studying Linguistics and Social Anthropology at The University of Edinburgh. I'm currently looking for a part-time nannying position. I'm a friendly, gentle, patient person who loves to read, write, cook, and draw (badly). My idea of a perfect evening is a cup of tea, a crossword, some crochet, and maybe making my famous banana bread. I grew up wanting to be either a midwife, paramedic, or primary school teacher, and despite not pursuing any of these things anymore, I love learning about the ways in which children learn to learn. Within linguistics, I find language acquisition fascinating. That being said, I'm more than happy to help with homework, read as many books as possible, I don't take myself too seriously so I'm always down to sing and dance, too. I was in the scouts for all of my childhood, so I love the outdoors, and all the space Edinburgh has to offer!
My Experience
I'm an only child, so have plenty of first-hand experience with being in childcare myself, and know just how daunting it can be for children and parents alike - my main priority, therefore, is cultivating a safe space of communication, creativity, and allowing kids to just be kids. I've had some experience caring for children between the ages of 3 and 8 (family friends), and although I may not be the most experienced nanny on this website, I'm a quick learner, adaptable, and have grown up fiercely independent, and am very competent at communicating with children and adults equally. As I say, I don't take myself too seriously (unless I'm in a situation where it's necessary), and at heart I am a big-kid who asked for lego for christmas, and therefore I would be gaining just as much from the experience as you.
My Qualifications
A full set of GCSES (inc. grade 9 english and 6 maths), A-levels, and currently obtaining my undergraduate degree. I have obtained basic first aid training through multiple avenues at different stages of life. I am currently doing a refresher course with st johns ambulance.
My Availability
My availability is flexible, with some of my uni-schedule able to change. I've put my availability in as it currently is, but please bear in mind that I can move things around to suit! I'm happy to discuss overnight on an ad-hoc basis.
