My Summary
About Me
Hi, my name is Colyn, I’m 22 and from Ireland. I’m in my third year studying Primary Education at Liverpool Hope University and I’ve always had a real passion for working with children. Over the past few years, I’ve gained lots of experience through holiday camps, sports camps, school placements, and working as a TA and 1:1 support. I love building positive relationships with children and helping them feel confident, especially if they’re finding a subject tricky.
I enjoy creating a positive and supportive learning environment where children feel encouraged to try their best, and I’m particularly interested in helping children who may need that little bit of extra support to achieve their goals. Seeing children make progress, no matter how big or small, is something I find really rewarding.
Outside of teaching, I’m a big sports fan – I play both football and GAA, enjoy going for runs, and I’m always up for a walk and a coffee. Sport is a huge part of my life and I love the teamwork, discipline and motivation it brings – qualities that I carry into my work with children.
I’m based in Smithdown but I’m always happy to travel for the right opportunity.I am loooking to offer some tutoring to anybody that may feel they need it and would be really happy to help!
My Experience
I have built up a wide range of experience working with children over the past few years. Back in Ireland, I spent four years running and supporting sports camps, which gave me the chance to work with children of different ages and abilities in a fun and active environment. Since moving to Liverpool to study for my Primary Education degree, I have also gained lots of hands-on classroom experience. I’ve completed two school placements so far, with a third one coming up in January, where I’ve had the opportunity to plan, teach, and support learning across the primary curriculum.
Alongside my degree, I’ve spent the past two years working in a variety of schools across Liverpool through a supply agency, taking on roles as both a Teaching Assistant and 1:1 support. This has given me valuable experience adapting to different classrooms, routines, and children’s individual needs. These opportunities have really strengthened my skills in building positive relationships with children and supporting them in both their learning and personal development.
