My Summary

My Experience

As a nanny/ babysitter I often create adult-led activities that are fun and engaging for children to participate in, for example Christmas crafting, play dough making, den building, PE challenges- obstacle courses etc... I enjoy participating in child- led activities and games too! I make meals for the children in my care following my food hygiene and allergen training and ensure to tidy and clean up etc before the shift is finished. I can manage the behaviour of children when needed. I follow children's routines including helping out during bath times, nappy changes, story time and bed/ nap times.
I work as a Teaching Assistant in a SEN- specific school, I have a hybrid role were I partly work in a 2 to 1 ratio with a high-support-needs student where I focus on building language and teaching skills through child-led activities. I also work within a classroom supporting the class teacher with the implementation of a specialist adapted curriculum. Some of my workplace responsibilities include partnership-working with the speech and language and occupational therapist teams, supporting during mealtimes, creating and sourcing learning/ activity resources, assisting in the resolution of conflict between children and using de-escalation strategies to support and manage behaviour.
Prior to this I worked in a Nursery for 3 years looking after children from birth to five. During my time as Level 3 Early Years Practitioner I was a Key Worker for multiple children- in my role I created bonds with children: I understood how to use their interests to create learning opportunities. I worked in partnership with parents to ensure I was meeting the needs of the children and I participated in the personal care routines of children for example soothing to sleep, nappy changing, brushing and tying up hair etc..
