My name is Jenna. I'm an Australian looking to move to the UK in early 2026, and have 5+ years of in various childcare-related fields, looking after children aged 0-16. My experience includes working in Out of School Hours Care (similar to breakfast clubs, homework clubs and after-school clubs in the UK), as a swimming teacher, babysitter and tutor/teacher.
In my previous work, I have been described by management as a "kind and gentle teacher." I pride myself on being kind, empathetic and compassionate, and I always make it my mission to be welcoming to all. I love to laugh and I'm always up for any kind of fun activity, whether it be crafty, sporty, or a more relaxed board game. I think the fact that I'm finishing an English degree means that I need to say that my favourite activity is reading! It is true, though - I've been an avid reader for as long as I can remember, and love sharing my love for words and storytelling with children. If you ask me for book recommendations, we'll be talking for hours. When I'm not reading a book, I love getting outside for a hike, run or walk, or trying out a new recipe.
After working as a swimming teacher for over three years, I became an Educator in Out of School Hours Care. In this role, I organised activities for groups of up to 90 children, also supervising external activities like going to the zoo and museums. My responsibilities also included food service, preparation and general cleaning up, so I know my way around a kitchen! I also have experiencing tutoring university students and babysitting children from 5-8 years old.
I'm completing my degree in History and English Literature in 2025, and keen to study history further in a part-time online capacity whilst in the UK in 2026. During my university exchange to Bath in early 2025, I absolutely fell in love with the country and knew that I would be coming back as soon as I could. In particular, I am looking to relocate to Oxfordshire or surrounding counties; Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Wiltshire or Gloucestershire.
I will be coming to the UK on an Ancestry Visa, which offers full working/studying rights and is valid for up to 5 years. My South Australian Driver's Licence is valid in the UK, and I have the Australian equivalent of all relevant checks, including First Aid and DBS. Most importantly, I am a warm, friendly and caring individual who loves to laugh and have fun!
My Experience
My first job during high school was teaching swimming lessons, an experience which definitely taught me the importance of ensuring children's physical and emotional wellbeing. After working as a swimming teacher for over three years, I became an Educator in an Out of School Hours Care. In this role, I organised activities for groups of up to 90 children, also supervising outside of school activities like going to the zoo. My responsibilities also included food service, preparation and cleaning up, so I know my way around a kitchen and I definitely know what foods kids do (and don't) like!
I also have experiencing tutoring university and primary school students and babysitting children from 5-8 years old, so I'd like to think I'm prepared for lots of different scenarios.
My Qualifications
I have qualifications in swimming teaching as well as my child safety, police and first aid checks.
My Availability
I am looking for 20+ hours of work per week, but am highly flexible in terms of schedule and available from morning - overnight every day from January 2026.
