About Me

I am a qualified Early Years Practitioner, passionate about learning through play, with a particular focus on the arts, outdoor exploration, and hands-on activities that nurture creativity, problem-solving and independence. I value child-led learning, where curiosity sparks discovery and helps foster a deeper engagement with the world around us. Drawing on my strong knowledge of educational theory, pedagogy, and practice, I am able to design activities and routines that are not only enjoyable but also educationally meaningful.

Books and stories are central to my life and practice. I believe in the potential of storytelling to inspire imagination, build empathy, and support learning across all areas. I make reading and story-based activities a joyful part of daily life, encouraging a lifelong love of books.

Parents appreciate me for being flexible, patient, and reliable, with a warm sense of humour that enables me to build strong and positive relationships with children. Safeguarding is always my highest priority, and I am committed to providing a safe, nurturing environment for the children under my care. I also value open and honest communication with parents, ensuring we work in partnership to support their children’s development and well-being.

Having worked as an early years educator for over a decade, I find myself wanting to return to the type of work that started me off on this journey. In my role I have cared for children in many of the same ways I would as a nanny (i.e. personal hygiene, social-emotional, cognitive…). As an advocate of healthy eating, I have always ensured to supervise the children every lunch time as a healthy diet is imperative for a child’s growth, development (physical and cognitive), well-being and behaviour.

My Experience

I started working as nanny in the late 90s caring for babies, toddlers and preschoolers. After +8 years of work in Spain, the UK and Canada and encouraged by the families I had worked for I decided to pursue my education in Early Childhood and Education to better provide for the young children under my care. I have an NVQ Level 3 diploma in Pre-School Practice and a BA in Education with QTS.

My first nanny job was in my hometown working for Marian Urnieta and her husband Rafa, caring for their two children Rafa and Fran, 3 and 2 years of age. My main duties were caring for the children, supporting their learning and development through play, preparing healthy/nutritious meals, keeping their bedroom clean and tidy and occasional babysitting. I worked in this role for a year and a half as the family relocated to Madrid in order to care for Marian’s elderly mum.

In London, my first live-in nanny job was looking after Nani and Marcus Bradbury’s two children, Nicholas and Dominique, 3 years and 6 months old. My main duties were to provide a safe (learning) environment; feed, bathe, dress and assist with toilet training and keep the children's rooms clean and tidy. We used to go for walks and to the playground daily, we visited the library weekly and we had regular social play dates with Nicky and Lesley Clarke’s children, Harrison and Tellisa, who friends of the family.

My next live-in nanny job in London was working for James Buchan and Lady Evelyn Phipps, looking after their daughter Elizabeth and their son, Nicholas, when he was born. My duties consisted mainly of the care of Elizabeth and I occasionally helped Lady Evelyn care for baby Nicholas. We loved going for exploratory walks around Regent’s Park, visiting the library for story times and to borrow books and we had regular playdates with our friends. During my time with them, I also travelled to Nova Scotia for two weeks and we spent a week in Brailes.

From 1997-1999 I lived in Vancouver, where I worked as a live-out nanny for Colette Nielsen, caring for her 6 month-old daughter Pascale. My main duties were to support with weaning, prepare healthy meals/snacks, change nappies, help with bathing and toilet training. I also organised age-appropriate activities (i.e. fine motor, puzzles, art), games and outings (i.e. park, library) to support her development and learning.
