My Summary
About Me
I'm Kirsty. I am a qualified primary school teacher living in Sidmouth with my family.
My Experience
I am a qualified Primary School Teacher with over 19 years of experience in education, including the last 10 years in leadership as an Assistant Headteacher. During this time, I was responsible for the Early Years provisions in two different settings for 2-year-olds, nursery (3–4 years), and Reception. I have also opened and led a private nursery based within a school, caring for children from 9 months old.
I am Forest School trained and have a strong passion for outdoor learning, valuing the rich opportunities nature provides for exploration, problem-solving, and confidence-building. I place great importance on early reading, storytelling, and the development of strong language skills, recognising the vital role these play in supporting children’s learning. I am dedicated to providing exceptional, personalised childcare that nurtures each child’s growth from the very beginning.
I provide a nurturing, play-based learning environment designed to foster curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning. My practice is guided by the key values of Nurture, Explore, Support, and Teach, ensuring each child feels safe, valued, and supported as they develop.
I offer a calm, high-quality home-from-home setting where children feel secure and confident. As well as spending time in my home and garden, we also enjoy daily outings to explore our surroundings — from the beach and local paths to the library and wider community. These experiences enrich children’s learning and help them make meaningful connections with the world around them.
My setting is equipped with a wide range of high-quality, age-appropriate resources that are easily accessible, allowing children to follow their own interests and develop their play independently. Through carefully planned interactions, I support children in learning new skills, developing language, and making progress at their own pace, while gently extending their thinking and learning.
