About Me
I am a 21-year-old female, and I am the second of four children in my family. I am a newly qualified paediatric nurse, currently within university to gain my honours degree within paediatric nursing before applying for a full time job. I am an enthusiastic, easy-going, team worker who can adapt to situations easily and who is super keen to learn! I have a caring nature and can find the positives within the negatives. Dance was my hobby growing up, which I began when I was 4 years old and unfortunately stopped just before I turned 21 due to university commitments. I like to be kept busy and always enjoy having things to do. Now that I no longer dance to keep myself busy, I attend the gym as often as possible and also like to run occasionally. I have enjoyed working with children ever since I was young, and wish to further my skills within this as I continue my career forward.
My Experience
I have recently qualified as a Paediatric Staff Nurse, where I worked closely caring for children from all ages. Within this course I also communicate effectively with everyone, from parents, carers, professionals and of course patients (the children!). I have gained a PVG and first aid/BLS training from university which I receive training for annually. I have also previously been a dance coach for 6 years, where I was responsible for children aged 1-17, in teaching them choreography as well as ensuring they had fun through games, warm ups and planning my lessons to each group of children specifically regarding ages and abilities. Through this I was also required to communicate with parents if any issues arose/just to have a conversation! I worked with children with special needs closely in dancing and would always cater to their needs as much as I possibly could - for example slowing down my teaching and also ensuring they understand and becoming a safe space for them. As a dance coach I understood that I was an adult that children could look up to, and always did my best in being a supportive role model for them. I am looking forward to widening my experience with children and also building strong relationships with each child I care for.
