About Me

We are a family of 4; a Mum, Dad and two sons, aged 11 and 4. We are originally from Derbyshire but moved last year to Somerset due to the location of my husband’s job. He is in the Military but mainly works standard hours, occasionally later shifts. He could be working away from home occasionally.

I am a very dedicated, attentive and caring Mum and I try to spend as much time as possible listening and talking to my children and helping them to follow their interests.

I intend to initially home school my 4 year old (from September 2026) and then possibly flexi school through his primary years. My eldest (11) attends a mainstream secondary school in Somerset full time. However, he previously attended a flexi school in Derbyshire for his primary years. Neither child has additional needs. The home/flexi school option appeal to us as we found it provided a better work/life balance and also enabled us to have more quality family time together. I taught maths in a secondary school for several years before my son was born, which helped with flexi schooling.

Before our house move we were very attached to close family members and saw them very regularly. We also had paid help from an 18 year-old called Maggie who had left sixth form, taking a gap year. We currently don’t have a support network in Somerset.

My Requirements

Babysitter
Part Time Nanny
Private Tutor
Mothers Help
Household Help

We are looking for at least one, even two trusted familiar adults who will become a regular part of our sons’ lives and provide to some degree care and support that family members and Maggie used to provide before we moved. There are different roles that we are looking for, which I’ve laid out below:

Role 1: This is the most Urgent of all the roles needed. We are looking for a person who can help several times a week with lifts to school for our eldest son, who is 11. The journey is around 45 minutes long to school from our home. Help may be in the form of driving our son the complete journey (home to school or school to home) or part of one of these journeys. Street/Glastonbury is half way along our route to school.

If you are interested, please get in touch asap for more details. This could fit around other work you might have for other families at the beginning or end of the school day. A clean driving licence and valid CRB would be essential. This line of work would be to start asap and continue until July 2027 during school terms only.

Role 2: We are looking for someone who will spend 1-2 three-hour sessions with our youngest son, who is 4. Occasionally if my husband is away with work, there may be more shifts required.

We are looking for someone who will give us immediate confidence that they are happy to work with our values and goals for our son. The exact time of day and which days could be negotiable from morning through to early evening over Mon-Fri. The role would mainly be spent in our home or garden with our son but in time may involve some low-key trips out and about.

Being caring, kind, fun, practical and active are essential qualities for the role.

Experience wise someone with a strong EYFS background including Reception years would be beneficial to help support me with home schooling ideas and personalising objectives for my youngest son.

My 4 year old is friendly, very intelligent, creative and capable. If you are someone who would relish a challenge of building something with him out of rubbish he has found, you might be the right person for the job! He mainly loves dinosaurs, cars and has a great imagination for story telling with these sort of toys, indoors and outdoors. If you are someone who is confident contributing and enhancing dialogues of this nature and getting on your hands and knees to move these toys around, this role could be for you! He also enjoys crafts and messy play.

Both of our sons enjoy and excel at ball sports. Being able to connect in this way with our children would be a bonus but a full willingness to, for example, jump on a trampoline or play hide and seek could be sufficient.

Role 3: This is a babysitting type role looking after both boys once a month or more on a Saturday evening for 3 hours approximately whilst my husband and I go out together. This person would need to be playful and kind, be comfortable interacting with both boys and also be practical, e.g. setting up and clearing away activities. It’s preferable that Role 1 and 2 would be done by the same person.
