My Summary
Reliable Nanny Newborn & Early Years Care Supports Shift‑Pattern Parents
About Me
Adaptable childcare and nannying professional with over 20 years’ hands-on experience supporting families with children aged 0–12. Calm, reliable and safety-focused, with strengths in routine-based care, early years development, activity planning, meal preparation and clear communication with parents. Brings a structured, organised approach shaped by leadership roles in events, retail and education-focused environments.
My Experience
Growing up in a large family meant I was surrounded by babies and children from an early age, developing strong natural caregiving instincts and confidence with a wide range of ages and needs.
Early Family-Based Childcare
• Began providing regular childcare at age 14, caring for my niece every weekend and during school holidays to support my sister as a single parent.
• Gained early experience with feeding, routines, play, and supporting emotional development in a nurturing, consistent environment.
Long-Term Nannying for Two Sisters
• Provided continuous care for two sisters over a six-year period, supporting the eldest from 3 months old and the youngest from 6 weeks old.
• Delivered full-day and extended-hour care due to parents’ NHS shift patterns, including:
• Overnight stays
• Bathing, bedtime routines and night feeds
• School and nursery drop-offs and pick-ups
• Driving to activities, playdates and birthday parties
• Supported both children through infancy, toddlerhood and early school years, maintaining a stable, trusted presence 4–5 days per week.
• Continued to provide occasional babysitting as the children grew older, reflecting strong, long-term family relationships.
Care for Twins
• Provided childcare for a friend’s twins while she worked, including school pick-ups, drop-offs and after-school routines.
• Adapted care to meet the needs of two children at the same developmental stage, supporting structure, safety and positive behaviour.
Babysitting for Visiting Families
• Delivered short-term and evening childcare for visiting families in Pembrokeshire, caring for:
• A baby
• Two children under 5
• Their 7 year old cousin
• Quickly adapted to new households, routines and expectations, ensuring children felt safe, settled and engaged in unfamiliar environments.

My rates reflect over 20 years of hands -on childcare experience, including newborn care, long term family support, overnights, twins, additional needs and structured routine management. Fees vary depending on whether I am self-employed or employed directly by a family, as the responsibilities and costs differ.
Self -Employed Nanny Rates
As a self-employed nanny, I am responsible for covering all statutory and business costs myself. This includes:
• Income tax
• National Insurance contributions
• Pension contributions
• Holiday pay
• Sick pay
• Insurance
• Training and professional development
• Travel and business expenses
Because these costs are not covered by the family, the self-employed rate reflects the full professional service provided.
Self-employed rate: £18–£20 per hour.
PLEASE NOTE: Each additional child: +£2–£3/hr
OR
Employed Nanny Rates
If a family chooses to employ me directly, they take on all employer responsibilities, including:
• Paying tax and National Insurance
• Pension contributions
• Holiday pay and sick pay
• Payroll administration
• Employer’s liability insurance
When these costs are covered by the employer, the hourly rate is naturally lower.
Based on current nanny salary data for Wales, an employed nanny typically earns:
Employed rate: £14–£15 per hour (gross)
This provides a stable income with full employment rights.
PLEASE NOTE: Each additional child: +£2–£3/hr
Babysitting Rates
Babysitting is charged separately from nannying, as it is usually short-term, evening-based and does not involve the same level of routine management.
Standard Babysitting (Evenings / Ad-hoc)
£13–£15 per hour
PLEASE NOTE: Each additional child: +£2 hr
Overnight Babysitting (Sleeping Night)
£70–£90 per night
Covers being present in the home, settling children and responding if needed.
PLEASE NOTE: If more than one child: +£10–£15 for the night
Waking Nights
Charged at the hourly nanny rate, as this requires active care throughout the night.
PLEASE NOTE: Additional child: +£2–£3/hr
