About Me

Hi, I’m Carly, mum to my 6-year-old son, Stanley. We are a friendly, calm household, and I am currently home-educating Stanley while working to build a supportive learning environment that meets his individual needs. Stanley is autistic and non-verbal, so I am very used to using visual communication, routines and gentle, low-pressure approaches throughout the day.

I am looking to connect with people who understand additional needs, take a compassionate approach, and can help support Stanley’s learning and development at his own pace. I’m very easy to communicate with, open to working collaboratively, and I make sure anyone who comes into our home feels welcomed and comfortable.

I truly value patience, consistency, kindness, and anyone who takes the time to understand Stanley’s personality and communication style. If you have SEN experience or a passion for helping children learn in creative, child-led ways, I would love to hear from you.

My Requirements

Private Tutor
Special Needs Experience

We are looking for a tutor with experience in autism, non-verbal communication, and SEN support to work with my 6-year-old son, Stanley. He is autistic, non-verbal, currently home-educated, and thrives with a calm, patient and structured approach.

Stanley communicates through gestures, vocalisations and visual supports, so a tutor who is confident (or willing to learn) Makaton, PECs or other visual communication methods would be ideal. He engages well when learning is broken down into small, achievable steps with lots of positive reinforcement.

Initially, I am seeking one session per week, with the intention of increasing to two sessions per week as Stanley becomes comfortable. The focus will be on early numeracy, literacy foundations, communication skills and confidence-building in a low-demand environment.

The right person will be:
• Warm, patient and consistent
• SEN-experienced (especially autism)
• Comfortable adapting learning to Stanley’s pace and sensory needs
• Able to create a calm, predictable learning atmosphere
• Reliable and able to build trust over time

We will be working from our home, and sessions will always be tailored around Stanley’s regulation and wellbeing.
