My Summary
A Safe Home-From-Home Where Curious Little Minds Thrive
About Me
Hello, my name is Sarah and I am a passionate, OFSTED registered childminder. I offer a warm, nurturing and inspiring environment where children feel safe, valued and excited to learn. With over 10 years’ experience as a qualified primary school teacher in languages, alongside my early years childcare background, I bring a strong educational foundation together with a deep understanding of children’s development, learning styles and individual needs.
My setting is based in a cosy, purpose-built lodge in our garden, thoughtfully arranged to support play, learning, quiet time and socialising. We also have a large garden which we use every day for outdoor play, exploration and learning. I truly believe time outdoors helps children grow in confidence, curiosity and wellbeing.
I take inspiration from Montessori principles, focusing on child-led, hands-on learning and independence. Each day offers a gentle balance of routine and flexibility, with activities such as crafts, sensory play, cooking, stories and music, alongside plenty of free play. I follow the children’s interests, so days feel relaxed, fun and never rushed.
Healthy eating is an important part of our day. I provide nutritious, home-cooked meals and snacks, encouraging children to enjoy food in a positive and relaxed way while happily catering for individual dietary needs.
Strong partnerships with parents are very important to me. I offer open communication, regular updates and photos, so parents feel confident, involved and reassured that their child is happy and thriving.
My aim is for every child to feel part of a family, supported to grow at their own pace, build confidence, develop independence and enjoy learning.
If you are looking for a friendly, home-based setting where your child will be genuinely cared for and valued, I would love to welcome you. Please feel free to get in touch to arrange a visit. I look forward to meeting you ?
My Experience
Our setting benefits from my experience as a qualified primary school teacher and childcare professional, with over ten years working in primary education. Alongside my professional background, I am also a mother of three grown-up children, which has given me valuable first-hand insight into child development, emotional wellbeing and the importance of a nurturing, responsive environment.
I have extensive experience supporting children with additional needs, both professionally and personally. As a parent to an autistic son, and through dedicated time supporting him during his early years, I have developed a deep understanding of neurodiversity, inclusive practice and the importance of individualised support. This is further strengthened by my formal qualification in caring for children with special educational needs, allowing me to adapt routines and learning opportunities to suit each child.
I have also worked as an Internal Quality Assurer within further education, developing strong attention to detail, reflective practice and a commitment to high-quality provision.
Since returning to early years childcare and nursery settings, I have brought together my experience in teaching, quality assurance and family life to offer care that is both educationally strong and emotionally supportive.
My approach places great importance on inclusion, wellbeing and confidence-building. I aim to create a calm, encouraging environment where children feel safe, understood, valued and are supported to develop independence and resilience. And are encouraged to take pride in their achievements. I work closely with parents to ensure every child’s individual needs are met and that they feel well prepared for the transition into school.

We couldn’t be happier with the care our daughter receives. She has been attending on a part-time basis and has settled in so well, which really shows how nurturing and welcoming the environment is. Sarah is caring, experienced, and genuinely loves what she does, and it’s clear how much attention and thought goes into each child’s individual needs. Communication is always great and I feel completely at ease knowing my daughter is safe and well cared for! We’re so pleased with our experience that she’ll be going full-time in January. I would highly recommend her to any parent.
