About Me
We’re a warm, multicultural family living in Caversham Heights. With Greek and Nigerian roots and a British upbringing, we value diversity, kindness, and a relaxed but well-structured home life.
We have two-year-old boy/girl twins who are curious, playful, and full of personality. They love books, music, being outdoors, and exploring new things. We also have two friendly cats who are very much part of the family.
Both of us are working professionals, and we’re looking for someone who can be a supportive and consistent presence in our children’s daily routine.
My Requirements
Location: Caversham Heights, Reading, RG4
Start Date: February - March 2026
Duration: 6 months
Children: Boy/girl twins, aged two years
Working Hours:
- Monday to Friday: 8:00am to 6:00pm
- 1-hour unpaid lunch break each day where you are free to leave
- Total: 45 hours/week
- No weekend or evening work required but may request adhoc babysitting, which will be paid.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment
- Planning and engaging the children in age-appropriate activities (play, arts & crafts, reading, music, etc.)
- Preparing and serving meals and snacks for the children
- Managing daily routines (naps, feeding, nappy changes, etc.)
- Taking the children to local parks, playgroups, or other activities
- Light housekeeping related to the children (e.g. tidying toys, washing children’s clothes, cleaning up after meals)

Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Previous experience caring for babies/toddlers, ideally with twins
- Up-to-date Paediatric First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain)
- Enhanced DBS check (or willing to undergo one)
- Fluent spoken English
- A calm, warm, and organised approach to childcare
- Non-smoker
Salary & Benefits:
- 28 days of paid holiday per year (including bank holidays)
- Statutory sick pay
- Pension contributions (via NEST or equivalent)

- This is a live-in position
- Driveway and on-road parking available
- Household with two cats
- Driving applicants preferred but non-driving applicants welcome

We hired Shannon to care for our twins. We went through the process of setting her up on payroll and had a contract in place. The evening of the second day, she emailed to say she had to quit effective immediately for mental health reasons. She didn't work her notice, so we were stuck and had to find last minute care for our kids. As great as Shannon was during the trial we conducted, she just wasn't a very trustworthy or reliable option for long-term childcare in the end.
