My Summary
About Me
I am a highly organised and dedicated education professional with a strong understanding of the current education system and its evolving practices. I am flexible and reliable with regard to working hours and responsibilities, adapting effectively to the needs of the school environment.
I currently work as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) in a primary school and have extensive experience working with children across a wide age range, from nursery through to Year 6. This breadth of experience has enabled me to develop strong classroom management skills and a deep understanding of age-appropriate teaching and learning strategies. In addition, I have experience in one-to-one and small-group tuition through my work with Kumon, supporting pupils in developing strong foundations in learning.
I hold a Level 6 qualification in Primary Education, having studied this subject at university. My academic background has provided me with a solid understanding of the psychology of education, including key educational theories and child development principles. I have a strong awareness of the emotional, social, and cognitive aspects of a child’s development and understand how these factors influence behaviour, learning, and engagement within the school setting.
I am committed to supporting children’s academic progress and overall well-being, using informed, reflective, and child-centred approaches to education.
My Experience
I have gained extensive experience working across a range of educational settings, which has provided me with a broad and informed understanding of how different environments impact children’s learning and development. I have worked in two different pre-school settings, each with its own structure, ethos, and demographic context, enabling me to adapt my practice to meet the diverse needs of young children and support their early development effectively.
In addition, I have worked in three primary schools located in different areas. This experience has allowed me to develop a strong awareness of how socio-economic, cultural, and community factors can influence behaviour, engagement, and learning within schools. Working across these varied settings has strengthened my ability to respond flexibly to differing school expectations and pupil needs, while maintaining high standards of support and professionalism.
Alongside my school-based experience, I have also provided academic support through Kumon tutoring, delivering structured one-to-one and small-group learning. This role enhanced my ability to personalise learning, track progress, and support pupils in developing confidence, independence, and strong foundational skills.
My Qualifications
I hold an IBCP qualification, through which I studied Mathematics, English, and Health and Social Care, developing strong academic foundations and transferable skills relevant to education and child development. I also hold a Bachelor’s degree in Primary Education, which has provided me with in-depth knowledge of the primary curriculum, teaching methodologies, and child development.
In addition to my academic qualifications, I have an up-to-date DBS certificate and have completed safeguarding training, ensuring that I work in full compliance with current child protection policies and best practices. I am committed to maintaining a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment for all children.
