About Me
I am a 35 year old childminder and proud mum to a two year old daughter, which gives me both professional knowledge and real-life experience of caring for young children. I currently study Psychology and Counselling part-time through remote learning, and I am deeply passionate about supporting the emotional, social, and developmental needs of children in their early years.
I believe that every child thrives best in a nurturing, safe, and encouraging environment where they feel valued and understood. My approach to childcare is child-centred and developmentally informed, focusing on building confidence, curiosity, and emotional security through play, routine, and positive relationships.
I am committed to supporting each child’s individual development at their own pace, encouraging independence while providing gentle guidance and reassurance. As both a parent and a student of psychology, I place great importance on empathy, communication, and creating a calm, loving environment where children can grow and flourish.
My Experience
I am currently in my second year of a Bachelor’s (Hons) degree in Psychology and Counselling, studying part-time via remote learning. Throughout my studies, I have gained knowledge across a wide range of psychological approaches, including social, biological, humanistic, and developmental psychology. This has given me a strong understanding of how children grow, learn, form relationships, and interact with the world around them.
My studies have also covered key areas such as child development, attachment, relationships, and social influences, which directly inform my approach to childcare. I use this knowledge to support children’s emotional wellbeing, confidence, and individual developmental needs in a caring and age-appropriate way.
In addition to my academic studies, I hold paediatric first aid training and have completed safeguarding training, with a clear understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures. I am awaiting Ofsted registration and hoping this will be completed by the Sunmer term. I am fully compliant with all required standards and regulations.
I have also completed additional training modules focused on child psychology and the benefits of outdoor play, recognising the importance of physical activity, exploration, and nature in supporting children’s learning, wellbeing, and overall development.
