About Me
We are a family of five living in Chislehurst (BR7). We’re a busy but very happy and loving household, and home is a place where kindness, warmth and humour matter a lot to us.
Mum and Dad are both full-time working professionals (working partly from home and partly in the office), and we are enthusiastic, hands-on parents. We have three children: our eldest son is six and will be in Year 2 at a local primary school about a 10-minute walk away; our second son will be five and in Reception at the same school; and our youngest is a baby girl who will be approaching one year old.
The children are curious, affectionate and full of energy. They love books and stories, arts and crafts, imaginative play, Lego, and spending time outdoors. They enjoy activities such as gymnastics, swimming and art club, and we try to encourage creativity and curiosity both at home and through clubs and outings.
As a family we enjoy simple pleasures like walks in the woods, days out to castles, wildlife centres, museums and the beach, movie nights, and spending time with friends. Our home can be lively, but it’s also calm, respectful and welcoming.
The values that are most important to us are kindness and compassion, respect for one another and for our privacy, creativity, and a sense of fun and humour. We believe in clear communication, treating people well, and creating a home environment where everyone feels safe and valued.
We’re always happy to answer questions and to talk openly, and we’re really looking forward to finding someone who feels comfortable getting to know us as a family.
My Requirements
We are looking to employ a full-time, live-out Nanny / Family Assistant on a long-term basis from October 2026. This is a permanent role that will evolve as our children grow.
Hours
• Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 5:30 pm
• Very occasional later finishes or babysitting may be agreed with notice (paid as overtime), but this is not a regular expectation
• We are generally very reliable with our hours and are hands-on parents outside working time
?
Core Childcare Responsibilities
Our baby (sole charge, four days per week)
• Sole charge of our daughter (approximately one year old) on four days per week
• One day per week she will be cared for by her Granny
• Maintaining predictable routines around naps, meals and the structure of the day
• Taking her to regular playgroups and activities to support socialisation with a reasonably consistent group of children
• Planning age-appropriate outings (e.g. parks, soft play, farm parks and other local attractions) and activities (arts and crafts, water/ sand play etc)
• Keeping a simple daily log (naps, meals and activities), particularly while she is younger
Our boys (term time)
• School pick-up from the local primary school (walking distance) four days per week
• Providing a calm transition after school, including downtime and gentle engagement
• Creative, relaxed play (arts and crafts, Lego, reading and games)
• No formal homework support required, but listening to reading is welcomed
• Occasional park or library visits after school, depending on weather and energy levels
• Occasional, pre-agreed playdates with school friends (at our home or other children’s homes)
School holidays
• Sole charge of all three children during school holidays (8:00 am – 5:30 pm), except when we are on family holiday
• Planning mostly local outings, with a larger day out once a week or fortnight
• Supporting the older children’s attendance at holiday clubs or activities that the parents may organise (e.g. swimming or tennis academies)
?
Family Assistant / Household Support (dedicated time one day per week and as appropriate around baby naps etc)
On the day our baby is with her granny, the role will focus on supporting the family through child-related household tasks, including:
• Family batch cooking / meal prep
• Children’s laundry
• Tidying and organising children’s spaces
• Putting away online grocery deliveries
• Preparing school bags and packing lunches
• Managing practical children’s admin (e.g. organising equipment, rotating toys, booking school lunches)
• Planning and organising outings and activities
• General organisation to help the household run smoothly
These tasks are intended to support the children and the family routine, rather than general household cleaning.
We value organisation and follow-through, and some tasks (such as children’s laundry, meal prep and school-related preparation) will be regular priorities. Other tasks may vary from week to week depending on what’s most helpful at the time. We don’t expect everything to be completed every time, and we’re happy to agree priorities together.
We’re looking for someone we can trust to take ownership of this part of the role and to suggest sensible ways of keeping things running smoothly. We value initiative and good judgement, while also being happy to check in and collaborate where appropriate.
More broadly, we value predictability and routine for the children and for the person in this role. We aim to be supportive, respectful employers, with clear communication and realistic expectations, and we’re keen to build a positive long-term working relationship as the role evolves over time.
