Immogen
Babysitter in Harrogate
My Summary
About Me
I’m a caring and reliable person who genuinely loves working with children and helping them feel safe, happy and understood. I’ve worked with children of all ages, including those with Special Educational Needs, and I’m confident adapting to whatever each child needs in the moment, whether that’s energetic play, quiet time, help with homework, or a calm and steady bedtime routine. I love making things fun and engaging, but I also know how important clear boundaries are. I’m firm but kind, and I believe children feel most secure when they know what to expect. By building positive relationships and keeping routines consistent, I create a space where children can relax, be themselves and enjoy their time, while parents feel reassured that their child is being looked after with care, patience and understanding.
My Experience
From a young age, I have been passionate about supporting others in my community. I began volunteering with the Oatlands Community Group, where I worked with a wide range of people including elderly individuals, young children, people with disabilities, and those experiencing homelessness. I started babysitting at 15 and, by 16, was also working at children’s parties, gaining valuable experience in creating fun, safe, and engaging environments for children. After finishing sixth form, I secured a role at Rossett Acre Primary School as a SEN 1:1 support assistant. Over three years, I developed my skills in supporting children with additional needs before moving to The Forest School, where I progressed from a General Teaching Assistant to a 1:1 support role and then to a Pastoral DSO staff member. Throughout my professional life, I have also worked as a carer for individuals with SEN, further strengthening my experience in providing personalised, compassionate support. Working closely with children and adults with additional needs has always been a significant part of my life and has grown into a true passion. At 21, I was diagnosed as severely autistic, and this diagnosis has positively shaped both my personal life and professional practice, giving me deeper understanding, empathy, and insight in my work. I am currently studying for a degree in Children, SEN and Mental Health, with the goal of supporting individuals with additional needs of all ages to reach their full potential and overcome any barriers they may face.
My Qualifications
While I don’t hold an official childcare qualification, I bring over 10 years of hands-on experience working with children of all ages, including those with Special Educational Needs. I have GCSEs and A-levels in PE and Science, and I am currently studying for a degree in Education, SEN, and Mental Health. My combination of practical experience and academic knowledge allows me to provide confident, informed, and compassionate care for every child I work with.
