My Summary
About Me
Welcome to The Mad House: Nicola’s Childminding Services
A Safe, Happy, and Nurturing Home from Home
Welcome! My name is Nicola, and together with my husband Dave, we delight in running what we affectionately call The Mad House. Between us, we are proud parents to five grown-up daughters, and our home is filled with laughter, warmth, and a vibrant spirit that children love.
Our Philosophy
At The Mad House, we believe every child deserves a safe, secure, and loving environment where they can grow, explore, and feel truly at home. When your child joins us, they become part of our extended family. We celebrate each child’s individuality, supporting their personal journey and building their confidence every step of the way.
Outdoor Play and Learning
We are blessed with a large, secure garden that is open for play in all weathers. Rain or shine, we encourage children to don their boots and enjoy the fresh air. Our garden is a space for adventure—digging in mud, searching for mini beasts, and tending to our fruit and vegetable patch (our carrots are wonderfully wonky, but we’re still mastering the perfect shape!). Outdoor play is not only healthy, but it also fosters curiosity and resilience.
Activities and Outings
Life at The Mad House is never dull! During school holidays, children are treated to exciting outings, and every day brings a variety of creative activities—all designed to spark imagination and joy. Here’s a taste of what we offer:
• Baking delicious treats
• Arts and crafts for all ages
• Music and singing sessions
• Fun and educational games
• Small world play and imaginative adventures
• Mini beast discovery and nature walks
• Sand and mud play
• Gardening and growing our own produce
• The list is endless
We also make regular visits to local toddler groups, giving children the chance to socialise, make friends, and grow their personal, social, and emotional wellbeing—especially important in these times, as many young children missed vital interaction during Covid.
Transport and Safety
Your child’s safety is always my top priority. I hold a clean driving licence and have the necessary business insurance for my 7-seater car, which is regularly serviced, taxed, and tested for your peace of mind. This allows us to enjoy safe trips out together, exploring the local area and broadening horizons.
Why Choose The Mad House?
• A genuine home from home, where every child is valued and supported
• Strong emphasis on personal growth, wellbeing, and confidence
• Safe, secure, and stimulating indoor and outdoor environments
• Wide range of fun, creative, and educational activities
• Regular outings and social opportunities
• Professional, insured, and experienced care
If you’re looking for a joyful, nurturing place for your child to thrive, The Mad House is ready to welcome you with open arms. Please get in touch to arrange a visit or to chat about your childcare needs—we look forward to meeting you and your family!
