About Me

I am an Ofsted registered childminder, living in Cranfield.

Prior to becoming a childminder, I was a qualified primary school teacher and I have now been childminding 12 years. I have two children age 14 and 7.

Working with children in the early years is my passion, and I find it amazing watching and discovering how young children learn through play and meaningful learning experiences. I have a welcoming home with a good size garden, including a covered area so we can be outside whatever the weather! I have a wealth of different resources and activities for all ages that cater for all aspects of the early years foundation stage and above.

I have a focus on open ended play, exploring outside in nature and learning about the world around us. We spend a lot of time building dens, jumping in deep muddy puddles, sliding down muddy banks and learning about nature and the world around us. Nature is life's greatest teacher and it is where children are happiest and learn best.

Aside from this we visit local music and playgroups, the library and soft play. We are always busy!

I thoroughly enjoy creating sensory play opportunities for the children I work with and I have in the past also run my own successful messy play business in the local area.

I am fully paediatric first aid trained, DBS Checked and hold a food health hygiene certificate.

Aside from this I enjoy making things (in particular knitting and sewing!) cooking and baking, and going for walks with my family and spending time away in our caravan visiting places all over the UK and beyond.

My Experience

Being a qualified primary school teacher means that I have experience looking after a wide variety of children and ages as this involved working not just in schools, but also in early years settings as part of my training. Having my own daughter means I am also experienced in looking after young children and babies.

My Qualifications

I am a qualified primary school teacher.

I have a 1st class degree in education studies.

I have a current CRB check.

I am first aid qualified including a full paediatric first aid certificate.

Level 1 Makaton trained

I have attended courses on the early years foundation stage and I have completed safeguarding training.

I have completed a course on autism

I have completed a food hygiene course.

Full clean driving licence.

I am committed to improving and reflecting upon my practise so will continually undertake relevant training for childminding.

My Availability

Monday to Thursday 7:30am until 5pm term time only.
Pick ups and drop offs at Cranfield church of England Academy, St Peters site and Little Cranes preschool.
