About Me

I am an experienced, OFSTED registered "OUTSTANDING across all areas", Early Years Educator qualified to teach and care for children up to 7 years. 1st aid certified, DBS cleared and insured. I have 2 children of my own aged 9 and 5. I am well educated, friendly, fun, patient and loving. Reliable and committed to providing all children in my care the very best opportunities to feel secure and loved, develop a positive relationship to learning, gain self confidence, benefit from enriching opportunities through high quality activities, resources and being partnered in play within a safe, clean and enriching environment.

My background is in marketing and branding and I have a BA in Philosophy.
I live in a large, smoke free, bright and clean home on Friern Road, SE22 with plenty of room for the children to play in. We have a lovely garden with a climbing frame and slide as well as a ball pit, water table and sand table. We arrange play stations for children to enjoy home corner, reading, dress up, role play, mark making and music. We have lots of instruments for children to explore, express themselves and make a glorious sound! We plan age, stage, ability and interest focussed activities to support children's wellbeing, self confidence and development. All underpinned by the EYFS so that children meet expected development within a warm, loving, nurturing and opportunity rich environment. Our ethos pivots on kindness, creativity, arts, music, exploration and the outdoors. We keep children well supervised, their interests met, busy with activities and as active as possible

I work with three assistants, one is an Early Years Educator qualified to teach children up to 7 years. She is an ex-primary school TA, experienced in SEN, Key stage 1 and 2. The other key workers are qualified NVQ 2 practitioners. We are a very close, caring team who love children and have chosen to work with the 5's and under as a vocation. Training and CPD are maintained as well as certifications that ensure sexcellent safeguarding and wellbeing of children is maintained at all times. Our experienced team bring added value to the children's experience through music, language, print making and cooking accreditations too.

Each day begins with a friendly welcome and music session before breakfast, then we begin planned activities. Breakfast and snacks are available right through till lunch at 12pm. The doors are open all day so children can access the garden and the whole space freely. We eat outdoors in the garden as much as possible and we're outside exploring weather, wildlife and physical abilities in all weathers. This is a great way to practice personal, social and emotional development too as children navigate being sociable, turn taking, sharing and praising each others efforts.
We have a large organic allotment that we use as a learning annex, where the children enjoy getting stuck-in growing and harvesting most of the veggies and fruit we eat. This gives them an excellent relationship to healthy eating, respect for nature and positive attitudes to food. We provide 3 fresh, seasonal, home cooked organic meals per day in addition to endless healthy snacks. We only provide water and milk for drinks. Dinner is always a hot meal and the day ends with settling stories and or a big dance session before home time.

I drive a 2011 Land Rover Discovery with isofix seating to ensure children are safe if and when they need to be transported by car although unless it's a medical emergency, we walk.

Hours are Mon-Fri, 8am to 6pm. Rates are £80 per day. We take 5 weeks holiday per year.

We have a specific nursery room where children have their own cot and sheets to recharge with rest. Sheets are boil washed nightly to maintain high standards of cleanliness and limit poor health.

We have excellent references from past and current clients and am happy to meet with any prospective clients at my home on Mondays from 9:30-10am, so you can get to see our setting, meet the team and children in action! Looking forward to meeting you and your little one soon.

My Experience

I have been childminding for 9 years and have provided care for babies from age 6 months though to 7 year old children before and after school. I began childminding as I wanted to stay at home to provide care for my own children as well as friends children initially. I was not impressed by the standards or quality of care that other childminders or nurseries were offering. After a 20 year career in high level corporate marketing and branding, working with Fortune 500 brands I am proud to say that this is the most rewarding work I've ever done and I am proud to say that I am a child carer.
I am able to support children in the most vital stage of their lives by ensuring that they feel loved and have self confidence as well as the skills they need to succeed in later life. There's nothing better than that!

My Qualifications

I am rated "Outsdanding across all areas" by OFSTED which you can review when we meet. Also, I am a fully qualified Early Years Educator, Level 3 enabling me to teach children up to 7 years old. The whole team have certificates in HOME BASED CHILDCARE, SAFEGUARDING, 1ST AID and have a clear DBS status.
I have a BA in philosophy.
I play several musical instruments including ukulele, trumpet and piano.

My background is in international marketing and branding. In 2003 I co-founded Eco Play in Brighton which was the first outdoor environmental education site for children aged 5-11 years servicing school children throughout West Sussex and gifting them the opportunity to explore the curriculum through interaction with wildlife and wild spaces.

My daughter attended Yeeha and loved every minute of it. Jess and the team are passionate about the kids and work incredibly hard to give them the best learning and social experience. In my experience of local childcare this is by far the best setting I have encountered.
My daughter was nurtured and really well cared for, staff really took the time to understand her and what she needed from the age of 12 months. She still talks about Yeeha with great affection.
I would recommend Yeeha very highly especially as a first child care setting for parents of little ones.

Jess and her team have looked after both of our daughters since they were 10 months old and given them an incredible start in life ahead of going to school. Having scoured the area for both nurseries and childminders (we saw over 10!) walking into Yeeha was like a breath of fresh air. The care offered by Jess and her team is second to none and both of our girls absolutely loved being there. They were not only loved and nurtured but thrived in their care, actively learning, constantly stimulated, creating incredible art pieces and enjoying the outdoors including regular trips to Jess’s allotments and the local parks. Sharon is an exceptional cook and the girls ate healthy, varied, delicious and freshly prepared food daily.
When they were unwell Jess contacted us immediately and we had every confidence that they were in very capable hands (we continue to ask Jess’s advice even though our girls have now moved onto school).
Jess and the team not only look after the children but support your family as a whole providing daily feedback and regular assessment of how your child is getting on. We had a number of major things happen within our wider family and Jess and her team were incredibly supportive not only to our daughters but also to us.

I cannot recommend Yeeha highly enough - if I had any more children it would be the only place I would consider sending them. The fact that they have Ofsted outstanding across all areas is no surprise, their offer far exceeds anywhere else we have seen or heard about.
