My Summary
About Me
I live with my husband, Mark, who is the duty manager at Stagecoach Oxford. We’ve been in our home for 25 years and are well known in the community. I run a warm, home-from-home childcare setting from my lounge, dining room, and garden. Each day, I plan activities tailored to the children’s ages and interests, following regular themes and events, and adapt them to each child’s development using the EYFS. Our two-tiered garden has a top section designed just for the children, making it an exciting and inviting space. I have eight grandchildren who often visit, especially during the holidays, and they love spending time with the children I care for. Since I don’t drive, we walk everywhere, and we’re lucky to be within walking distance of parks, woods, garden centres, soft play areas, toddler groups, and the library. Walking in the community is a wonderful way to explore and learn about the world, and we often chat with friendly locals who enjoy a cheerful “Good morning” from the children. We also meet up regularly with other local childminders, so there are always new friends to make. I take pride in knowing the children I care for are nurtured and given the best start in life before they take the exciting step to preschool at age three.
My Experience
I have been childminding for over 25 years, and most importantly, I’m a mum to three grown-up daughters and a grandma to eight grandchildren. Before becoming a childminder, I worked in a school, preschool, nursery, holiday clubs, and care homes. I took a six-month break from childminding, but I missed it so much that I started again.

Wendie has looked after our son since he was 10 months old. He is now nearly 8 and still goes to Wendie for before and after school care, drop off and collection and school holiday cover. Our son has always been and is still super happy to go to Wendies, which in turn makes us happy! We can’t recommend Wendie highly enough and count ourselves as lucky to have found her. :-)

Wendie looked after my youngest son from when he was 3 until starting school. Then 18 months later i had to change jobs and work later and so both of my boys went to her after school until my youngest son started secondary school. This was all many years ago now, but if i say that both of my boys still talk about and are in contact with Wendie at the ages of 17 and 21 then you can understand the impact she had on their lives.
Wendie was always kind, welcoming and caring, always had little adventures planned out and about and made great use of the local area. The boys were well socialised with other children and situations. Even when just at the setting, there was plenty to learn and do indoors and out as Wendie makes full use of her space.
When I first had to start working later and felt guilty about having to get more childcare, my youngest son asked if i could stay at work even longer as he was having such a good time with Wendie. My only wish is that i had found her sooner!

Thankyou xx
Wendie's childcare setting is a perfect mix of a warm, family home where our little boy was always happy to relax into after school and a safe, fun place for him to learn extra life skills and socialise with children outside of school.
During school holidays Wendie makes the effort to keep children engaged with various activities and opportunities to explore our local area and meet with others.
It was important for us that our son was looked after by someone kind and caring, who would make him feel comfortable in their home and garden - Wendie was this person and helped create lots of happy memories!

Thank you so much for the lovely review.
Wendie minded my child for two years, right up till he started school. Wendie was caring, kind and a super fun childminder. My son enjoyed every day he spent with her and the other children, they went on adventures, leant new skills for life and school and was loved and cared for like he was going to a family members. She also makes sure she is involved and up to date on her understanding if your child has individual needs, like my son and his speech. I recommend her to everyone who needs a childminder because your child will flourish.
