About Me
Hello!
We’re a kind and welcoming family looking for some additional support at home. Our household includes mum, dad, our 8-year-old daughter, and our 19-year-old son. We also have a friendly ginger cat and our eldest daughter is currently studying at university and visits during holidays.
Our 8-year-old is a bright, lively girl who enjoys school, swimming, Cubs, and playing Roblox. She’s full of energy and curiosity! Our 19-year-old son is outgoing, funny, and loves his PS5, cooking, and watching YouTube on his iPad. He has Down’s Syndrome and wears hearing aids, as he is deaf, but he also speaks and communicates well. Some knowledge of basic sign language (BSL or Makaton) would be helpful, though not essential, as he uses a mix of speech and signs to express himself.
Our son has recently returned home from an 8-hour surgery and time in ICU, so we’re looking for some extra help as he continues his recovery.
We’re a warm, respectful family who would love to find the right person to join our support network. :)
My Requirements
We’re currently looking for additional help and support at home, as we are finding things quite challenging since our 19-year-old son returned from major surgery. He has an ileostomy and experiences fluctuating pain—some days he feels well, while other times he’s in discomfort. He’s also often up at night, which leaves us very tired during the day.
We are hoping to find someone who can form a long-term relationship with both of our children, especially our son, and become a trusted and supportive presence in our home. We are open-minded about the structure of this role—it could include:
- Light housework (cleaning, laundry, tidying)
- Supporting our daughter with homework
- Helping with basic childcare routines
- Providing companionship and practical/medical care for our son
- Occasional support in the evenings
- General household assistance, similar to a personal assistant
Experience with special educational needs (SEN) is essential—especially those who have worked with individuals with Down’s Syndrome, ileostomies, or catheters. Some sign language ability (BSL or Makaton) would also be very helpful, although our son does speak and communicate clearly.
We’d love someone fun, patient, understanding, and energetic—someone who can relate well to both a lively 8-year-old and a young adult who enjoys video games, cooking, and chatting.
Mum is currently home full-time to support the children, but she is hoping to return to work in the future. Dad works long days. A driver with their own car would be ideal to help with local activities or appointments.
We're happy to discuss flexible hours, responsibilities, and rates, depending on your skills and availability. If you think this sounds like the right fit for you, please reach out—we’ll be interviewing soon to find the right person to become part of our home.
Thank you :)
