My Summary
High Quality, Friendly Homebased Childcare
About Me
I am a registered Childminder and a member of the PACEY.
I am a mother of 4 lovely (older) children, a Grandmother to two, and I am married to Michael. We have a lovely friendly dog that has his own area during the day and only supervised times with children.
At LPH Childcare, we offer a nurturing, homely environment where children feel safe, valued, and inspired to learn through play. Rooted in a child-led ethos, we blend educational philosophies such as Montessori, Froebel, and Steiner with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework to support holistic development.
The children’s voice is valued in the setting — they are encouraged to make choices, share their ideas, and take the lead in activities that reflect their interests. This helps build confidence, autonomy, and a strong sense of belonging.
Our setting features a large garden and dedicated messy play area, encouraging exploration, creativity, and sensory learning. Indoors and out, children engage with open-ended, educational toys and resources that spark curiosity and independence. We promote healthy eating habits and regularly enjoy outings to parks, woodlands, museums, and community spaces—making learning active, adventurous, and fun.
Every day is thoughtfully planned to balance structure with freedom, ensuring children thrive emotionally, socially, and cognitively.
Little Pickles Homebased Childcare is nestled within a spacious, well-maintained semi-detached property, thoughtfully chosen to support both comfort and convenience. Located on a peaceful residential road, the setting offers safe and secure drop-off and collection points, with both off-street and on-street parking available for families. Its prime location places it within easy walking distance of the town centre, train station, and several major employers on the nearby industrial estates—ideal for working parents seeking reliable, accessible childcare. The calm surroundings and practical access make it a reassuring and welcoming environment for children and families alike.
Settling-In Process and Visits
Before moving forward, I kindly ask that you and your child attend an initial visit to the setting. This allows us to get to know one another, explore the environment together, and ensure it feels like the right fit for your family.
You will be sent a full parent pack, charges and funding policy, sickness policy to read, all about me form and child record form. You are required to sign a contract before starting.
Once you’ve decided to proceed, a further visit with your child will be required, followed by a series of paid settling-in sessions. These sessions help your child gradually adjust to the setting and build confidence in their new routine.
If your child has not previously been left in another care setting and you anticipate difficulties with settling, I can offer regular morning sessions in the weeks leading up to their official start date. These can be tailored to your child’s needs and help ease the transition.
A deposit is required to secure your child’s place. This will be returned after the completion of the first full month of care.
My Experience
I am a qualified Nursery Nurse with over 40 years of experience working with children across a wide range of settings. My career has included roles as a nanny, pre-school leader, Nursery Nurse in a Social Services Nursery, and Deputy Nursery Manager. My final employed position was as Childcare Manager for an NHS Trust, where I successfully managed two nurseries and two play schemes.
For the past 18 years, I have been a registered childminder, and I continue to find great joy and fulfilment in my day-to-day work. I am committed to ongoing professional development, regularly undertaking CPD training and attending conferences to stay current, inspired, and refreshed in my practice.
I hold a valid Paediatric First Aid certificate and complete annual training—both online and in person—to ensure my knowledge remains up to date. This includes exploring new approaches to play, gaining fresh ideas, and networking with other professionals.
I have experience supporting children with special educational needs and take pride in creating inclusive, nurturing environments. I also value working with families from diverse backgrounds and cultures, recognising the richness this brings to children's learning and development.
My approach is child-led, responsive, and rooted in the principles of holistic care. I strive to provide stimulating, varied play experiences that support each child’s unique journey.

At Little Pickles, we provide nurturing, full-day care tailored to each child’s needs. Half-day sessions are not typically offered, as we find they can disrupt the flow of the day—particularly impacting younger children’s sleep routines and our enriching outings to museums, farms, and other community spaces.
We are happy to support shared care arrangements with nurseries, provided they are on a full-day basis. This ensures consistency, supports children’s emotional wellbeing, and allows us to maintain our high-quality experiences throughout the day. Contracts can be provided to suit personnel needs and as we have to take most of our holidays during school holidays due to teachers using the setting.
FUNDING EXCEPTED and places can be shared with a local nursery when they reach 4 years.
Registered for Government and private childcare vouchers.
